When I first start driving my 2001 Outback it steers easily. As the car warms up it becomes harder to steer?

rack and pinion leaking internally. Fluid gets hot/warm, gets thinner, then starts to bypass seals and such in the rack/pinion or pump.

The power steering seems to be out. My car steers like a truck now.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you fill the power steering reservoir with power steering fluid. It may be out that's why it steers hard than usual. You may have a power steering leakage too so I strongly suggest that you replace worn out steering hoses and it's wise to check the rack and pinion if it has leak. If it has then the oil seals of the rack and pinion will need replacement.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

2002 nissan sentra 1.8L steers hard to the right and the left no apparent signs of a leak what are my options for the problem power steering pump is not making noise

Have a competent shop look at your steering rack. They go bad without leaking, internal seals go bad and don't hold constant pressure.

1998 pontiac grand prix GT. Steers to the right just fine, but when you try to steer left, requires extreme effort. Most of the research I have done online indicates a problem with the rack & pinion...

its an internal rac problem, usually cause by a collapsed seal or wear on the inner rack seal surface, either way the rack will have to come out, and they are cheaper to buy reconditioned than to repair

Steers hard when turning around in the drive or when turning left or right from a stop sign, have replaced the power steering pump, new rack & pinion, new high pressure hose, had car aligned, am completely...

try lucas power steering stop-leak. drain some of the fuild and then pour that in. it is for surging rack & pinions, not just for leaks. if that doesn't work then you may have a defective rebuilt rack.
check power steering pump pressure, might be weak.
