If you did.
Did you bleed the air out of the system?
When you turn on the heater and put it on the high setting does it blow hot then cold.
If so you have air circulating in the cooling system which means an air lock.
Air in a pressurized system does not have a cooling effect so you would overheat.
Try to put your hand on the tail pipe(careful it might be hot) and see if you feel the exhaust sucking your hand back in.
It should have a steady outflow.
If that is the case you have a head gasket or another engine block problem.
