You have a Parasitic battery draw, hook up a meter and watch it as you remove fuses, when that draw goes away you have found the system of the car that is the problem. Most times it is a light left on like a vanity mirror light or trunk light, center console as well and glove box lights.

Could be the glass. Be careful, if you break the mirror tabs when removing you will need to replace the glass and motor if available seperatley or it's a whole mirror

One alternative is to locate a scrap auto dealer and get the part from them. Usually about 1/3 price of new part from car dealer. ( Used Auto Parts).

The small metal piece is just glued to the glass , and is probably still in the mirror assembly. You can buy the "special " glue at any auto parts store.
Glue the metal piece on , then after it has fully dried you can slide the mirror back on.

Replacing outside mirror

I know I know!, Use a little squirt of WD 40 and they will be super easy to pry out. I did the drivers side mirror myself, so let me tell you the biggest problem. Maybe you can figure it out. I couldn't.. OK, so you have new mirror wiring hooked up and then you find that the metal stripping on the outside of door, is stopping it from being seated down in the proper spot. I found only one screw at the end but it obviously has clips somewhere that I was not finding. I wasn't about to dent the cheap thing trying to get it off. There is a pro and con to the matter. You actually can still get door back together with mirror looking like it is on correctly. But...being that it sits about 1/2 higher than where it should, it blocks your vision from, people crossing in a sidewalk from your right, island curbs when you are taking left turns, and well, thats enough. Mine has been that way now for a year and I have to really lean up and over the mirror and steering wheel, to be sure it's clear, at those times. What's funny is that I just tapped my passenger mirror on a garbage can that was left a bit out in road on our narrow street. Not a scratch on it but get this...it popped the mirror out, breaking all the clips and stuff that hold it in there. Had to order another and haven't a clue how I am going to pay for installation. Wouldn't want both too high. Maybe they will do a two for one!

hi i have just changed sidelight bulb in my 06 audi a8 passenger side i unbolted power steering reservoir to give a bit more room i made a tool with a bent forked end like a trim tool and simply hooked it around the holder and pulled it out on inspection of holder there are flat bits sticking out on opposite sides so you can use a pick (a hook on the end of a piece of wire) hope this is helpful RAY

Passenger side mirror

yea. both my mirrors started flopping around like they were not latched or something..
i finally took them apart like you said.. (the screw driver and the wire retainer clips.. )
then i discovered the spring that holds it in place hooks on to a spring hook flange tine casted into the mechanism's frame structure. and that tine was bent over and cracked on both sides.
when i bent it back with the screwdriver, i discovered it was an amazingly hard metal alloy, but it was an engineering failure so i wasn't going to put it back together in that condition.

so i broke the tine completely off
then i wrapped a coat hanger wire around the end of the structure and extended a loop of coat hanger wire into the spring well and hooked the spring to it. i'm not sure if that's the problem you are having but i wanted to post the solution i am trying to at least give people an idea or 2 .. i feel confident that it will hold at least till the hook on the other part of the mirror frame cracks off the same way. i guess it was a bad batch of metal. that metal was hard
