Question about 1998 Chrysler Sebring

Car alarm preventing car from starting

My 1998 chrysler sebring convertible car battery went dead. we had to disconnect the alarm siren to charge it, as the alarm kept going off. now the battery is charged but the alarm system is still preventing me from starting the car. the valet switch doesn't seem to work. opening the locked car with the key doesn't work. the key fob has fccid: elvat8c and model prooe2. thanks for any help you can give. I replaced the ignition switch in my 1998 Chrysler Sebring Convertible.
To do so I disconnected the ground wire from the battery. After the ignition was repaired and every thing was put back together, the ignition no longer was sticking and works fine. BUT, when I start the car the alarm goes off. Is there a reset or what do I need to do to get this to stop. The car runs fine and I can even drive it. But every light the vehicle has is still flashing and I unplugged the horn.

Try removing the alarm system relay, some car alarm has also a fuse on the alarm that you can remove.
Many car alarms unlock by inserting and turning car key while you connect the battery.

On Chrysler, you disarm the alarm buy unlocking one of the door ( try both front doors).
Simply lock, then unlock the door.
If this does not work, then once the ensure battery is fully charged, and try
removing fuse 5 under the dash for about15 minutes, then reinstall
fuse and try to start the car.
If you still have no luck, then try both door lock - unlock.

if all the above didn't work you will need to go to a mechanic or a car alarm specialist and ask to unlock doors from control module, this usually happens when there is a problem with doors' wires connections to control module.
There is no easy way to disconnect directly the car alarm , as it is wired into the body control module.

If you can find out how to put it in valet mode, that would at least tell you if its the alarm or something else. Also, when my battery died, I had to put the key in the ignition and turn it to on before connecting new or recharged battery back in.

try to reach up under the front of the car with your arm and try to locate the latch with the hood release cable attached to it. Use your fingers or plyers to manipulate the latch to release-pull on the cable. You may have to remove the grill to access it.

HELP please!! My daughter has a 96 sebring convertible and today she put her key in the door to unlock it and the alarm started going off. It wont stop, have disconnected the positive and negative battery...

Just a quick note once you hook the battery back up try locking it and unlocking it from the drivers door, if that fails you might try the passenger door. I know on some chrysler products you have to lock and lock again to arm and unlock to disarm. I hope this helps.
Thanks,
Joey
