Question about 1994 Toyota Pickup

Strong fuel smell

I have a 1994 Toyota Pickup 4 cylinder. I think I have a fuel problem but I'm not sure. When I start to accelerate it seems like the truck is hesitating, like its not getting fuel for a few seconds and then the hesitation stops and the truck accelerates. When I let off the gas the truck will **** for a second and then it stops. After driving the truck there is a strong smell of gas, and the truck idles rough. I don't know if I am having problems because of a sensor, injectors, or something else?

You more than probably have a gas leak somewhere in the fuel system. If you can smell gasoline, it is leaking somewhere. The lines run along the frame to the engine. The leak might be hard to see or hidden (on top of the fuel tank).

The leak is robbing fuel pressure from the engine, causing it to idle rough, so is probably on the pressure side of the system.

(Most fuel systems, except for "returnless" systems with Pulse width modulated fuel pumps (not very common), have a pressure line and a return line to the tank.

check you exhaust. you may have a damaged cat or a broken baffle in the exhaust eather of these will stall the engine and you will have a strong smell of fuel.

My 1994 nissan pickup cranks but will not start

Need to check for fuel. Easy way to do this is wipe one of the plugs clean and dry and put back in without wire attched. Crank truck as if you were trying to start it. Pull plug out and check to see if it is wet. Should smell like gasoline. If so, recommend you replace the plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor. If not, you have a fuel problem.

use a scanner sound like a bad sensor .mass air flow - map sensor - coolant sensor. check vacuum line to fuel pressure regulator if wet with gas replace fuel pressure regulator. make sure yours spark pluge the right heat range. also change air filter. check charcoal canister. check oxygen sensor and egr valve. make sure its not stuck open.

Absolutely correct. Have cylinder head dye tested and checked for warpage before re-using. Do not run the engine any more than necessary ( into the garage or onto flatbed on it's way to shop) or you risk doing damage to engine bearings.
