What could cause sudden gas consumption with a 3.8 litre with automatic trans? I cleaned the MAP sensor, installed a different catylatic converter and changed air filter.

Why my opel astra 2.0 16v cdx is using more petrol these day what cause that problem?

run the fault codes before you waste any more money.
there may be exhaust sensors out, blocked cat converter, MAP/MAF/VAF sensors out from the cold weather, faulty injectors, low fuel pressure

I HAVE A 2001 BUICK LeSabre CUSTOM, I HAVE HAD THE #1 COIL PACK REPLACED, MAP SENSOR, SPARK PLUGS AND IT RUNS DECENT IN GOOD WEATHER CONDITIONS BUT IN THE WINTER TIME IT DOESNT WANT TO STAY STARTED, BOGS...

You have to start somewhere, so I would say have the fuel system pressure tested to see if it is at specification. It would be pretty high on your model, probably around 50 psi or more, with key on and not started.

If fuel pressure is good, that means the pump and fuel filter is good. The only other fuel related problem might be dirty injectors- partially clogged- that is pretty rare, but sometimes an injector cleaner may help, or if badly plugged, shops have some equipment to check each injector's output, and some high tech cleaning tools or equipment for the injectors. But again, that is pretty rare.
Certainly. the first thing you should do after the fuel pressure check is to have the pcm scanned for trouble codes. If no codes are stored in memory, a good scanner might be necessary to view the information from the engine sensors. A bad Coolant Temperature Sensor, for example, may not be telling the computer that the engine is cold and requires more gas to keep running. Still, this sounds like a fuel related issue.

Rough idle and poor fuel consumption

Sorry guys i was late with my feedback... So here it goes.. I have no check engine light.... Currently running the stock tune as well.. The car has no tps, pcv or egr valve.. It is all controlled by the electronic throttle body which i recently cleaned but didnt help with my problem. I ordered a new fuel pump as well, just didnt get the chance to install it yet. Cant change the fuel filter as it is builtin within the pump. However, shouldnt the fuel pump or fuel filter cause engine stalling, bucking and hesitation? I doubted the fuel pump could be causing this since the problem only occurs at idle. By the way, there is no missing on any of the cylinders.

+ air intake : This will cover the cleanliness of carburetor or throttle body and the air filter. Make sure there is no obstruction in the air intake system and no carbon deposits or dirt. This is the most important part to get better air flow and fuel consumption. also tires, make sure there at proper inflation. please go here to read more because there are numerous causes for this.www. kereta.info/causes-of-high-fuel-consumption good-day !

Hello,i bought a subaru outback 2002 from 3 months.and it's consuming more gas than normal.(130km/20 litre) could you please tell me what i have to change? and what is the normal consumption for this...

REPLACE AIR FILTER.CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS,CHECK TIRE PRESSURE.LOW TIRE PRESSURE WILL CAUSE LOT OF FUEL CONSUMPTION.CITY DRIVING WILL BURN LOT MORE GAS,STOPPING VECHICLE THEN GOING WILL CAUSE MORE GAS BURNING, YOU NEED POWER AND FUEL TO GET VECHICLE IN MOTION,BY IT BEING HOT WEATHER, USING AIR CONDITIONING TO KEEP COOL INSIDE WILL CAUSE MORE FUEL CONSUMPTION.

To much fuel consumption

TOO MUCH FUEL CONSUMPTION CAUSED BY STOPPED UP AIR FILTER, LOW TIRE PRESSURE, RUNNING AIR CONDITIONER,FAST TAKE OFFS, FAULTY TRANSMISSION TORQUE CONVERTER NOT LOCKING UP TO OVER DRIVE.LOT OF CITY DRIVING LIKE SHORT STOPS,DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS.CHECK FOR FUEL LEAKAGE.MANUAL TRANSMISSION CLUTCH SLIPPING.

I have a 2000 jeep wrangler, 4.0L 6 cyl. what would be the fluid capacities for the transmission and the transfer case?

If you have the automatic trans it takes 3.8 litres of fluid if doing a service with the filter. If you drain the torque converter (usually only on a tranny swap or new install) it takes 4.7 litres if it is the 30RH tranny and 6.4 litres if it is the 32RH tranny (call the dealer with your vin number to find out which one you have).

If you have a manual trans it takes 2.3 litres.

As for the transfer case there are 4 different transfer cases used that year.

NP242 takes 1.4 litres
NP247 and NP249 take 1.6 litres
NP213 takes 1 litre

Again you can call the dealer with your vin to see what transfer case you have if you don't know.

Fouls 3 spark plugs on drivers side, rough idle new plugs 3 times ,new converter and o2 on drivers side. new tp sensor new MAP, new IAC what causes this

I will guess. Give me a lot of leeway here

Only me,BUT,if I got 3 plugs fouled twice,I would halt everything.

There would be no new converter,O2 Sensor, that was damaged, as a result of your issues,UNTIL, I solved the cause of their failure.

The TPS,MAP and IAC ,ONLY get replaced when I,just me again, have used a VOM or Oscilloscope to test,AND, the testing proved they were bad.

So, I think, a dry and wet cylinder compression test,a cylinder leak down test, a coolant pressure test,a check for combustibles in coolant, and even an exhaust gas reading, just to start a list of things to do,would be necessary, to tell you why the plugs are fouling.

If I went the wrong way,on oil or coolant fouling, just maybe a bad fuel pressure regulator,BUT only 3 plugs,THAT'S THE KEY

You got a bad head gasket or intake gasket
The TPS,MAP and IAC were replaced ,due to a guess and not testing.
If this was a dealer, they installed a converter and never attempted to solve the cause of failure. (Overheating,Rich Fuel Mixture or Coolant Contamination)

1999 4.3 vortec map sensor removal & install, does it just pop out? not sure if its the problem, starts and idles fine, push on the gas and it starts to rev than cuts out, bogs down, let go of the gas...

Could be several different problems things causing this,Disconnect map sensor and try pushing on gas if map is bad problem will be gone or different, you could also have TPS sensor,Distributor problem,or fuel volume problem,Are there any codes set?
