My first tihing I'd look at would be the cable disconnect it and see if the Idle now drop all the way down, If not see if the throttlebody linkage is need of lube.
Next turn it off take off the air intake hose Block the throttle wide open use some carb cleaner and a toothbrush to clean BOTH SIDES of the throttle plates in the throttle body and as far inside as you can shoot carb cleaner in and clean until those plates are sparkling BOTH SIDES OF THE PLATES INSIDE AND OUT re connect the hose UNBLOCK THE THROTTLE!!!!!!!! Start it it will start a bit hard but will run much better,

In gear idle tries to go up to around 4000rpm without stepping on the gas, won't idle down till I step on brakes, way slow acceleration, Traction control off light is on, check engine light on

Something could be wrong withthe idle circuit or air cleaner not installed properly. Need to check engine code first, also heck for vacum leak listen for air escapeing.

Smog test: fuel evaporative controls functional...failed

Your mechanic will know. Eva= evap system, usually a vacuum leak somewhere. Vacuum leaks will also affect idle.

Not too sure, sounds like your vechicle isn't getting any gas. Could be anthing from a hose to a gas pump.

P1494 code

engine idle speeds, odd, hot? any real symptoms?

can be lots of things, the FSM covers it.
I think the ratio to real EVAP faILuers TO BAD CAP , IS LIKE 1000000:1 its so bad , new cars put , gas cap failure on dash !! display.
Give that fact, check cap first, and reset the ECU.
the EVAP system can be simple or hard.
Visual check the vacuum lines to all EVAP components
check all fuses.
then make sure gas cap is tight. (if cracked its no good) or a bad seal.
the reset the codes, using any scan tool. ($9 tool)
drive for a week see if it comes back, if comes back then its REAL.
if there is breach in the EVAP or bad VSV, (vacuum sol. valve)
then that takes the testing steps in the FSM.
or the EVAP system needs pressure testing, like they do
in all smog stations , at the cap.
if the leak down test fails, then you simply find that leak.
On can use any rubber tube held to the ear to hear a leak (after using a pressures source to the system.
if you have no tools, take it in. if DIY , buy them.
read the FSM. under this code, and the EVAP sections carefully.
there are 2 paths, it really is failing the EVAP or the OBD2 testing parts
are fibbing.
lots of guessing here, no tests...

http://engine-codes.com/p1494_chrysler.html

Purpose
the EVAP system , keeps gas fumes from polluting the air we breath.
it seals the tank vents and burns off all fumes as you drive.
that is what it does.
and is tested, all the time by the OBD2 system.
its very reliable in finding, any failure.
Your system fails the first step, it checks to see if the system
even holds pressure, and fails. the FSM explains how this
test is conducted, the steps and checks.

Cap issues?
my current jeep , the cap ratchet was dead. and would not get fully tight.
or the vacuum breaker inside is bad. (stuck open)
or the sealing ring is bad.
or someone put wrong cap on car.
or a locking cap that is wrong.
the cap holds pressure, and never a vacuum.
the vacuum breaker prevents fuel tank collapes (photos avail)

2007 Audi A4 Quattro 2.0T Idle Vibrations

mcdevito75 here, A vibration while idleing is not really normal, a rough idle could be many things, wrong octane gas, dirty gas filter, dirty smog controls. Have your local shop take a look for you.

Failed O2 sensors? or fuel filter?

i would point to the actual fuel pump when they go weak they cannot supply enough fuel and it will miss and set o2 faults fuel filters usually cause a jerking under a load and will lose all power

Wont smog

If the car idle on high rpm check if when you will step on the gas pedal over 2500 3000 rpm the car will start shaking and the will die if thats happening then check your mass air flo sensor ,or if there is no air leak that avoid the mass air flo sensor

Hi, my car today failed in smock check, the emissions test fail, and I don't know how to read de results, can you help me to read and fixed the problem?

Go to AutoZone or Kragen and get a $9.00 bottle of PASS ANY SMOG TEST or double
your money back (keep your receipt). You just pour it into your gas tank at a FILL UP and run
that gas down then refill your tank and take your Smog Test. It will pass. What state are you in??
What are your smog test numbers??
MikNas in California
