The signs you mention 'putt putt' are normally casued by excessive fuel, something approaching a flooded engine. If you do this with the hood open, you will probably smell raw gasoline.
A cold engine needs an extra shot of fuel to fire off but once warm, it gags on it. I don't know your car so I can't tell you what controls the extra gas for cold starts; it seems to be doing it whether cold or not. I guess I would first check any electronic temperature sensor which could be located in the cooling system or intake or exhaust system. Your new computer is getting the same wrong information as the old one.

SOURCE: my car is actin up!!!!

I have a similar problem. Start with the cheap stuff like spark plugs and wires. Then check your fuel filter. After that, check your MAP sensor, and or fuel pump. Also your TPS (throttle position sensor)
I know this problem is very common. I have searched everywhere, and there is no one specific solution. Good Luck!

Swapped a 1999 420A engine into a 1995 eclipse (also a 420A) and we have no spark. We started by checking the cam sensor and it is working properly it is upside down from the 95 but the ASD relay is...

first the cam sensor shouldn't be upside down from the 95. they both should be with the plug facing down. they 95 CAS has a different plug than the 99 CAS.
the 95 has round pins and the 99 has flat pins.

also the 95-96 relays are opposite the 97-99

besides that it could be the ecu. i also have heard of the locating pin on the intake cam shearing off, allowing the gear to turn with the timing belt without the actual camshaft spinning.

I have a 1996 grand cherokee. engine cranks but wont start. getting nothing on dashboard gauges and getting nothing but dashes on overhead digital gauges except temp. recently had new alternator put on. is...

More than likely needs a crank sensor, Try cranking with the crank sensor disconnected, you should not get the dashes in the cluster. The crank sensors take out the communication system of the vehicle

No fire when i try to start my 96 eclipse

I have a 95 eclipse and had the same problem. Replaced the coil, plugs, wires. I had it taken to 3 garages before I found out. It's a problem with the anti-theft system. I don't have the exact location, but the guy who finally found out the problem said it was under the front bumper. Sorry I can't be more specific, but I know how puzzling the problem is. I spent a good 700 dollars and 4 months on two "I don't know"s and a little under $200 to actually get it fixed.

My 1995 eclipse turns over but doesnt start

If it turns over the starter is not the issue. Could be cam ,crank sensor or even fuel pump

No spark to coil changed waterpump and timingbelt

is the motor timed right. the cam and crank sensor signals have to be in sync if your too many teeth off it wont start and engine damage could result.

My 2000 eclipse wont start up all the way

I have the same problem on my 2002 Eclipse RS 2.4l 4 cylinder. Replaced the battery, starter, fuel pump(not at one time) . It started up when I had the starter put on as well the fuel pump. But everytime I started the car up it ran good till I turned it off the problem was still there. The car sounds like it wants to start but it sputters you can smell the gas so I know its getting fuel. it starts up fine with a cold start like in the morning.

Try getting a diagnostic thats what Im going to do next week.
good luck!!!
