1996 jeep cherokee turns over and was running good, but now it will not start

I have the same problem. I was driving down the road today, jeep acted like it lost power and then just shut off. I tried and tried to get jeep to turn over it would not. Finally, after about 15 minutes I tried once more and it started. I drove approx 1/4 mile and it did it again. This time I only waited 5 minutes and it started. I drove 2.5 miles downhill then (everything fine) I started to go up a hill, happened again. This time started immediately. I parked it. Unfortunatley, it is in a very rural area with no mechanic for 30 or so miles. Can anyone help me?

I was driving my 1995 Cherokee and it stopped running. The engine turns over but will not start. All gages and other electrical work OK. It happened while moving and without warning (No sputtering, bucking). The engine shut off.

Self start problem

Your starting problem may be battery charge level. Take buy a auto parts store, most will measure the battery charge condition and may recommend a new battery, They will also measure the status of the charging system, which if not adequate, will contribute to the poor battery charge and starting problem. If the battery condition is good or very good, you may have a Starter solenoid or starter and solenoid problem.

The first thing you need to do is find out if it is a fuel problem or an ignition problem...nobody online can tell you without diagnosing the problem first.

2003 kia sportage starting problems

It could be a problem with the fuel pump or igntion module/ coil pack. The next time it stops, fuel pressure needs to be checked and have the ignition coil pack and module tested at a local parts store.

there is a recall about fuel line screen (no start problem)if you live in cold area. Check the head gasket with pressure test on cylinder 1 that misfire. If you cannot rev >3000 rpm, your MAF is bad.

I think it's the fuel pump or the fuel pump filter.

Check the fuel system that's where your problem is, my bet is your fuel pump has left this world to a better place.
