We have the same problem with the a/c - blowing hot air when at a stop and ice cold when driving.

I too have this same issue with my 2008 Equinox.

My dealer told me this is the way they are made to run.

I do not buy it, and have had my vehicle in for repairs 4 times in 5 weeks.

I am totally dissatisfied with the mechanics and have lodge a complaint with GMC's customer service.

I am waiting for their response.

I believe this will fix your problem. Read the reviews at the bottom of the page. The same compressor is on some Fords.http://www.acpartshouse.com/showitem.aspx?&id=116597&name=New%20A%2FC%20Compressor%20Control%20Valve

2005 chevy equinox only blows cold ac out of passenger side

check the air vent of passenger side for any obstruction and secondly keep your thermostat full towards cold side make sure the ventilator is fully closed position and rotate the air selection knob clockwise and anti clock wise two three times than set it at the required position mainly your air selector seems to be malfunctioning there is nothing wrong with the ac

I have a 2005 Chevy Equinox. During the day after it's been sitting, when you first crank it the a/c blows hot. But once you get rolling at a good speed it cools down. BUT, when you stop at a red...

This sounds like your cooling fan is not running. If you were to stop too long with with the engine idling it would overheat the engine. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but this is a very serious issue. I can have a number of causes, like bad cooling motor, bad wiring or conectors, bad relay, open fuse, etc. Please have it diagnosed and repared before it overheats the engine and possibly damages the engine. If you are stopped in trafic you can place the transmission in neutral and shut off the engine. When trafic restarts you can restart the engine and place the transmission in drive again and continue. I hope this helps.

Ac only cools when accelerator is pressed. when sitting in idle traffic, only blows warm air. had ac recharged, doesn't help.

I have same issue. I took to Chevy dealer they could not find problem (whats new) then I took to trusted mechanic.
They measured voltage at compressor and found out when idle the voltage dips below manufacturer specs, then when RPMS go up it gets more juice so the compressor then starts to work properly.
Chevy claims its made that way to extend compressor life.

THE AC IN MY CAR IS BLOWING HOT AIR AND SOMETIMES COLD BUT THE AC DOESN'T STAY ON. THE FREON IS FINE SO WAT ELSE COULD IT BE

have the gas removed and wieghed and regassed by weight ,if problem persists then it could be a compressor problem like its not producing enough pressure

A/C not blowing cold air. Aluminum lines under hood have frost/ice on them.

If you haven't already done so, check and see if you get hot air also. If not then your blower motor is not receiving the 12v it's suppose to get. if this is the problem please let me know.
