Question about 2001 Nissan Frontier Crew Cab
So this is something of a mystery that at least one mechanic has been unable to resolve. It has happened twice in the last two months, and I believe it happened once a few years ago when someone else was driving the same vehicle. There doesn't seem to be anything that causes it.
When the key is turned to the "acc" position, the lights all come on and everything seems functional. When you turn the key to activate the starter, there is a distinct "click" sound from under the hood and the entire electrical system goes dead -- and remains dead until the battery is disconnected and re-connected.
The first time this happened, the car was towed to a shop and was completely normal by the time they looked at it. They tested everything -- battery, starter, ignition, etc. -- and it was all okay.
This latest time, it's been 2 days and it still isn't working, so I'm taking it to the mechanic tomorrow unless I can sort it out on my own first.
Things I've tried:
* Tighten/twist the battery contacts.
* Checked all fuses
* Disconnected the battery overnight
* Disconnected the battery, then reconnected it (so the electrical system was working) and left it like that overnight
To no avail.
It sounds like you have a braker going bad and it just went out the rest of the way...so if you can find the cicret braker that went out and replace it the truck should work fine....or it could be a relay that went out....try this and let me know...good luck..
