Question about 1996 Honda Civic
A few days a go i drove my 1995 civic (manual) to work and everything was fine. got ready to leave and try to start it and the car would not start, wouldnt even try to turn over or crank just no response. I thought it could be my battery tried jumping and no response. so i just pushed it and popped the clutch to get it started and it started right up. i had an starter kill security system(Auto Page) that was installed by the previous owner on it so i thought it could be that so i took it to an authorized Auto Page dealer to check it out , he completely removed the system and hooked the ignition wire back to it original setting straight from the ignition system to the starter still no response from the car. by the way my lights and everything work. he also checked the fuses and those were fine. thinking it could be my starter i took it off and got it and my battery tested at AutoZone and both passed. So I am puzzled, the car give me no feed back so i dont know what to check next. one last thing i notice, i had my lights on and try to start it and my lights did not even dim. usually head lights dim when u try to start up a car. any suggestion on what to check next because it seem like something simple and i dotn want to take it to a mechanic and get ripped off. my neighbor said it could be a relay but but what relay would that be and where to find it. i have been easily able to start it by just rolling out my drive way and popping the clutch. the car runs great otherwise. It could possible be a relay, but the more lickly suspest would be the electrical part of the ighition switch. this has been a very common problem with all models of honda's for many years.
