Gas door on my 2008 sts wont stay close - STS Cadillac Cars & Trucks

Look for the light in the trunk, under good and glove box to see if they stay on. If the radio stays on after you shut off the engine but won't go off after you open the door then the body control module is faulty.

fobs have lost SYNC with security system of the car.

You will need to have new batteries for fobs and go thru the GM sequencing procedure of the ignition and the keys.

The Pin switch on the door is bad check it and repalce

lots of reasons
do both fobs fail?
the car has scan tool port and tells you why? did you scan it.
on newer cars, they had to add lots of reasons to fail
like door not locked to Sonny dont get killed,etc.
(kids playing near by,etc)
or the engine is sick. and upto 6 reasoons
the FSM covers them all the operation manual , in general. read that too.

yes spray throttle body and have someone sit in car running in park and hit the gas pedal while spraying

Nope - nothing to do with any of that - mine does it periodically - front door, back doors --- it;s the computer that's running it all. Ive had an STS and a late shape CTS- - beautiful cars but ***** reliability. shame. Anyone want a RHD 3.6??

Pull the emergency cable in the trunk on that side to open the gas door and then heavily spray WD40 into the pin latch that holds the gas door closed.Work it back and forth by pushing it in and out with finger until moving freely

Hi! The car may have gone into limp mode. Try disconnecting the battery connectors and let it sit for atleast 30mins. This should reset the system and can get your car back to normal running . HOpe this helps and have a good one!

It should be covered under warranty, take it to the dealer, let them fix it

Check the latch mechanism on the door. There is a piece of the latch that closes around the clasp on the door frame. sometimes this closes when the door is open and you can't shut the door. Take a screw driver and flip this latch piece open and close the door.
