Battery system is good, but when you turn the key nothing. Will not "click" or fire in neutral, or drive and does not appear to be making the connection to the alternator or starter. I'm assuming its the starter relay or starter ignitor, but don't know where to go from here?

Buy your battery there is a master fuse link that burns out to protect the systems. It is a smaller section of wire Lighter gauge that burns and separates. feel for it and look for bubbled wire coating.
this could be your problem and is a simple fix. Mike
When the vehicle doesn't start, you will need to check the purple wire at the starter solenoid for power when the key is held in the crank position. If there is power during this procedure, the starter will be defective. If no power, possible ignition switch... neutral safety switch..starter relay ( if equipped ) or wiring problem
the shifter has a park neutral lock out device. it will not shift out ( see left side of console for hidden cover, move lever inside for emergancy shifting) until you start motor, step on the brake and then the solenoid in the shifter box unlocks the shifter.
but that is not the problem.
back up. car will not start or the car will not crank.
turn key ,nothing happens. turn key , just hear starter solenoid click turn key , motor cranks, grrrrrrrrrrrrrr, but will not start.
Next time it won't start turn headlights on and see if they dim when you turn key to start, if they dim its most likely starter, if they don't dim possible starter switch, Have you tried to start it in neutral position? Try that, if it starts in neutral than its park neutral switch, if not could be starter switch, Just make sure you chk. all fuses and any relays associated with ignition first.
Sounds like you may have a cable issue. You should have two positive cables one supplying power to starter and one powering vehicle. if the starter power wire is not getting good connection but other is then it will only click. check this wire for corrosion inside cable
Hi cotboh7 If this truck rolled off the ramp I would check the neutral safety switch. You could also check that the shift linkage is set properly, also back to that starter, sometimes they give no indication at all, this happened to myself recently, parked the truck came out nothing, it was the starter in my case. But that has nothing to do with the truck rolling in park, and the neutral safety switch is for just that purpose, which is why it must be in park or sometimes neutral to start.I hope this helps, good luck to you.
