I need a diagram showing what marks i need to align for the timing belt/camshaft timing need timing mark diagram

    Even the splendid Geo Metro should have a timing belt change at 80K miles 
    and mine went out at 149K

Woot i feel your pain i had the same problem. go to autozone.com and go to thier vehicle repair.
enter your year make and model and find it. but please hear me on this one.. be carfule thier are like 2 timing references and one timing mark. USE THE DOT. pls i learned the hard way. lol use the dot on the cam sproket. good luck

  1. Align marks on camshaft pulleys with alignment marks on seal plate.
  2. Install timing belt. NOTE: No looseness should exist on the tension side and at the camshaft pulleys.
  3. Loosen tensioner lock bolt.
  4. Turn crankshaft 2 revolutions in direction of rotation and check that timing marks are still in alignment.
  5. Tighten timing belt tension lock bolt to 27-38 ft lb (32-52 Nm).
  6. Apply a force of 22 lbs to timing belt between camshaft sprockets.
  7. Belt deflection should measure 0.30-0.33 in (7.5-8.5 mm)


  1. NOTE: Replace tensioner spring if timing belt deflection is excessive.
  2. Timing Belt Installation

  1. Install lower timing belt cover.
  2. Install upper timing belt cover.
  3. Install power steering drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  4. Install fan pulley.
  5. Install generator drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  6. Install A/C drive belt and adjust belt tension.
  7. Install splash guard.
  8. Install fan and fan shroud.
  9. Install 4 fan bolts. Tighten to 24 ft lb (33 Nm).
  10. Install fan shroud mounting bolts.
  11. Install fresh air duct.
  12. Connect hose to resonance chamber.
  13. Connect battery negative cable.

Timing belt diagram marks for toyota corolla 1996


On the 4A-FE engine do the following:
Align the camshaft knock pin with the knock pin groove on the pulley side with the K mark, the slide on the timing pulley.
Align the camshaft knock pin with the knock pin groove of the pulley, and slide on the pulley.

Align the camshaft knock pin with the groove on the pulley side with the K mark-4A-FE engine
Temporarily install the timing pulley bolt. Hold the hexagonal wrench head portion of the camshaft with a wrench, and then tighten the timing pulley bolt to 43 ft. lbs. (59 Nm).
Install the crankshaft pulley. Align the pulley set key with the groove of the pulley. Slide on the timing pulley, facing the flange side inwards.

  • It's a timing chain not a belt.

  • This diagram shows how to position the lower timing chain so that the mating marks line up.

Double check the mating mark alignment of the upper timing chain and idler sprocket.

I have the timming belt off of my 1993 geo metro the timming markes are off' i need to know how to realighn the the crank and cam gears.


Hello hjolana: My name is Roger and i will help you. I have attached a picture of the timing marks.The camshaft mark aligns with the mark at top of cover behind the cam gear. The lower mark aligns with the notch on the block and the crankshaft key way is at 12:00 o'clock. See the picture. Should you need further help please just ask. Please rate the answer. Timing belt marks for geo 1.3


From the book
crankshaft sprocket has a slot which must align with the key in the crankshaft
The mark on the lower timming belt sprocket must align with the mark on the engine front cover.
Pictures worth a bunch of words (email).
