Question about 2003 Chevrolet Impala

4 Answers

Loosing power i have a 2003 chevy impala 3.8 engine. It looses power when im going up hills. prime example i was traveling on i24 headed from clarksville to nashville i was traveling at 80 miles per hour soon as i started up a steep hill the car started to slow down to 50 miles per hour but the rpm raised up almost to the red the check engine light came on so i had it hooked up to get a code the code read that it was misseing fire so i changed the spark plugs n wires and i changed the air filter and gas filter cause it was still doing it. if i floor it it sounds like its bogging down.

Wow, I just went through the same problem and guess what it was a clogged converter and a bad oxyegen sensor. The garaged fixed it up for me by putting an eco converter on it and a new O2 sensor. I have a 2003 Chevy Impala,V6 3.8 engine. Good Luck!!!!

If nothing has worked for you, I would check your fuel injectors...one of them may be clogged causing you to loose power and your check engine light to flash when accelaration is needed.

Loosing oil no leaks no oil under car or oil on motor on 2008 Chevy impala

The only two possibilities are it's leaking into your cooling system due to a blown head gasket, or you are burning it due to engine wear such as worn valve guides or piston ring/bore wear. Have a compression check done. (By the way it's losing not loosing)

Ranger looses power up hill

I am assuming you have the 2.3 liter 4cylinder engine.. This is common in all rangers straight out of the factory with that motor. Your asking alot out of a 4 cylinder truck that also get good gas mileage. they just do not have the capacity to gain speed up a hill. There are a few solutions for you that you could try. If it is a 5 speed manual transmission try to speed up before the hill and when you start losing speed go to 4th gear. this is also good for using as a passing gear as im sure you have noticed you lack power when trying to rapidly accelerate at highway speed to pass. an aftermarket cold air intake combined with a less restrictive exuast will give you anywhere from 5-20 hp gain AND give you more MPG's

Or you can buy a light truck with a v6 or v8 in it. rangers can be equipped with v6 as can chevy s10's. dodge dakotas have the availability of small block v8. this is of course will cost you alot in gas (based on experience) I am a 10 yr mechanic and have owned 2- 4 cylinder rangers a 93 and a 94 my dakota which i still own is a 01

2003 chevrolet check engine light flashes going up hills looses power

flashing is usually a sign of a bad misfire situation, check the plugs and wires, also check for coolant in the oil or oil in the coolant.

2003 chevy impala starts cold and runs well but then it wont hold the speed it looses speed and won't accelerate over 23000 rpms

This can be your catalytic converter. If engine has no power, and won't go very fast, and you have your foot to the floor, this is the likely cause. The car may be covered by a Chevy extended warranty for this known defect. The warranty is 10 years 100K miles on that particular part for that failure. Take it to a dealer and they should fix it for free.

there are two conditions
1)
pls clean up ur vehicle's HEAD (which mean the spare part immediate attachment to the engine and keep the Nozzle pressure is high )
2)
