    I have a similar problem. I have a 1988 VW cabriolet.

I need to losen the starter belt in order to slip it off the pully and put in a new alternator belt, then reinstall the starter belt and tighten it all down. The problem is that i cannot find all of the bolts that hold the starter in place. Any information you have relative to where the bots are located that hold the starter to the engine is apprecited.

    Thanks.

There will be a tensioner that needs slackening off before any belt can be removed. Find the tensioner for the belt in question and slacken it off. When you have fitted the new belt, tighten up the tensioner as recommended by VW or the Haynes Manual. I hope the other belt is not the timing belt. If the timing is not set right you are looking at a new cylinder head at the least.

I need to replace the alternator belt on my 1992 mazda 929

Find The Alt. Loosen But Don't Remove All Nuts Bolts That Look Like They Might Be Holding It On.

Disconnect The Neg Battery Cable From The Battery First.

The Alt. Should Pivot Back And Forth / Up And Down. Look At It And Notice How It Travels In An Arc. This Is How You Establish The Correct Tension When You Tighten The Bolts With The New Belt Installed. Use A Long Screwdriver As A Lever To Get The Tension And Tighten The Bolts With The Other.

Pretty Simple.

I Think The Outside Belt Drives The Water Pump And Alternator And The Inside Belt Drive The Ac And Ps Pump. If Your Belt Is On The Inside You Need To Loosen The Ps Pump And Take That Belt Off First.

Oil change and cam belt/timing chain change for volkswagen golf 1.9cc tdi 130 bhp, 1992 model

support engine. remove coolant reservoir. remove serpentine belt. remove serpentine belt tensioner. remove bolts from mount. carefully raise engine up and move mount out of the way.(hard to explain and this is hard to do you have to have the engine in the perfect position and whatnot) remove the top plastic cover. with 19mm socket rotate engine clockwise until hole in cam lines up with hole in head. insert vw special tool to hold cam. remove the 4 6mm bolts on crank pulley. remove plastic covers. with white paint, mark belt to cam and belt to crank. loosen tensioner. remove belt. transfer marks to new belt. strongly suggest replacing water pump. reinstall t-belt. put the tensioner somewhat tight. rotate the engine fully twice. loosen tensioner bolt and adjust to perfect tension using needle and v-groove on adjuster. install is reverse of removal.

How do you replace the water pump on a 1992 Mazda Protege?

Hi:

The water pump is driven by the timing belt, which is on the passenger side of your engine. You would need to remvoe all belts, and then the timing belt cover, and the timing belt to change your water pump.

I need to take off the water pump on a automatic 1992 jetta...

If it's a 2.0L or 1.8l, you'll have to take off the timing belt. I'd suggest looking for a procedure on removing the timing belt and the water pump is under the distributor gear usually. Do NOT loose your marks, or else you can ruin the engine.

Set timming inGOLF 1992

it sounds like the timing is out on the car, it needs to be exactly at TDC (top dead center) and do not move any of the fly wheels crankshaft wheels when timing chain/belt is off it may be that the timing chain is not tight enough
