Hi, I have recently purchased a Saturn L300 2002 model from one of the dealers. The AC does not work at all. I got it checked from a mechanic and he says the Compressor is all good but not running and he also fixed the wiring that passes current to it. Now he says He is in need of an AC RESET CODE to get my AC fixed. I am not sure if all this is any meaningful. I need to know what exactly could the problem be and where can I find the RESET code?

If I was a mechanic, and i worked on cars for a living, i would know that i should not send my customer wandering around on the internet to find answers to my car questions. if my doctor sent me to the internet for a diagnosis i would change doctor forthwith.

what i would do, were i a mechanic, is get on line myself and find the local GM dealer who has been saddled with honoring saturn warranty issues, call them and get the name and phone number of a saturn tech rep, who are still around advising those poor GM dealers. If the dealer could not help me i would call the saturn tech rep and get the answer from the horse's mouth. in the last year i have personally spoken with a saturn tech rep, and put a chevy dealer onto one, and was more than a little surprised that the dealer had to be prodded into it, but then he was not the local designated saturn victim dealer. if you google saturn and keep clicking you can find your local GM dealer victim who may well not be real happy about working on saturns, but he can put you on to the tech rep.

change mechanic and good luck

The car wouldnt start for 2 days. the throttle was cleaned(it started after the cleaning) and i was told i need an o2 sensor. drove for 2 days got gas and pulled off and at stop light car just shut off...

I agree that a bad O2 sensor will not preclude the car from starting or running. Saturn is defunct and there are no dealers, but most of the standard mechanical parts can be obtained through auto parts stores, and GM dealers who are now picking up the warranty work for late model Saturns can get you "dealer only" parts. Further there are web site stores which can find you about any Saturn part you want, getsaturnparts.net comes to mind.

it may be the lights switch, but first check for a fuse in the engine compartment fuse box marked "Park". It is not the safety interlock, as that only affects the start circuit. If you have more questions, please let me know.

I have a 2007 Saturn ION 2. I've already had the cam performance sensor replaced. Now something is causing the temperature gauge to malfunction. (Won't move, and then, it kicks up - to normal) The A/C...

Hello,
Did you have a specific engine code requiring replacement of the Cam Position Sensor?
Did you recently replace the thermostat or run low on coolant or have some other cooling system work done? The temperature sensor can be bad, or simply have a loose wire connection. Check those. There can be air in the coolant system as well. Finally, the thermostat could be sticking and will need to be replaced.

These issues have nothing to do with the Air Conditioner. However, the AC will not cool if the car is sitting still unless the condenser fans (electric) are running. Turn on the AC and check to ensure the cooling fans energize.

Most of these items you can check yourself, however if not, then have your mechanic or a mechanically inclined family member or friend check them for you.

Best regards,

Power window in my rear driver side window went outn(Saturn Ion 2004). The window stays down. Anything i can do to avoid taking it to a dealer?

Hello. The motor in this door needs to be replaced. The best choice is to purchase the motor and track assembly. It is a little more money than just the motor but you will save on the installation. Do not go to a dealer. Instead call a few mechanic's shops, even body shops. Shop for the best price.

Heater 2002 saturn sl1 poor air flow

A leaking A/C unit tends to get grimy, decreasing air flow. Have your refrigerant pressure checked, If it is low, have the mechanic open up the HVAC system and clean the grime off the AC condenser with some solvent, or do an expensive A/C repair. Also of note: Some 2002 SL models were equipped with cabin air filters. If you have one, get it replaced.

Spark plugs replacement

Do not take a Saturn to a Saturn dealer for repair unless prepared to pay full price for a warranty repair and take on additional self-inflicted failures from the Saturn dealer.
No Saturn dealer knows how to read, repair, and reset a simple "engine trouble" light.
Local mechanics report that no Saturn mechanics attend the Saturn sponsored repair training sessions. The Saturn dealer does not own nor know how to read the basic auto electronics repair instruments.
