Question about 2001 Chrysler Town & Country

Radio does not work

I got into my 2001 Chrysler Town and Country van this evening and the radio did not come on. At the same time the lights in the tone buttons(all three of them) were constantly flashing. I tried turning the vehicle off and back on but nothing changed. The radio worked fine as recently as Friday. One other problem(don't know if it's related or not)is the clock in the radio. Almost every time we go somewhere in the van, the time has reset to 12:00. There are times that I'll reset the clock and it will keep time correctly, but usually it resets to 12:00.

Maklean suggested changing the fuse. The only problem with that is that the owner's manual doesn't tell where the fuse for the radio is. I looked under the hood and found where all the other fuses are, but there didn't seem to be one for the radio. Is it possibly somewhere else? Also,is there a reset button? As I said the three tone buttons are flashing and it seems as though the CD player is still working, even though there's no sound.

Actually Maklean's suggestion that I change the fuse was the solution! The owner's manual said something about the IOD fuse. I had changed that before re:the clock problem with no success. I popped it out again and the tone lights went out. I plugged it back in and the clock came up and the radio worked. Now I know where to go if this happens again(hopefully it won't). Thanks again for everyone's input.

Hi,

Yes both are related. To my knowledge, the radio and the clock needs two (2) types of +12 supply, an always on +12 to keep memory active and an ACC/IGN +12 (when key is either in ACC or RUN). Your description indicates that the constant, always on +12 is missing.

Pls check fuse #s 5 & 14 at the IPM. Clean if needed the terminals as well as the snap connector where the fuses are plug in. If you want to verify B+12, pls check the gray/red & the blue/pink in the gray harness connector in the ignition switch with and without the key in RUN.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If you lost your anti theft code you need to provide radio model number to Chrysler to get it unlocked.
Other solution is paying a small fee to some unlocking site like the following

Unlock CODES
radio codes unlocked

You will be asked radio number.

If radio is not locked try disconnecting battery cable for two minutes, to reset it.

Ok, there is a high possibiltiy u have a loose connection.
When it disconnects, it causes the time to go to 12:00

The power supplying ur radio is intermittent. You may have bounced on something while u was driving which caused the loose connection.

You may wanna have a look at the connections at the back of the radio and make sure the power is connected correctly

Hope this helps
Cheers

SOURCE: replace rear bumper 2001 town and country van

Depends on how baddly the whole car is bent and how much you pay your self. You can do it, and if it's bent bad enought that you can't expect to pay mor than flat rate anyway because thier not just changing the bumper cover and or the bumper core and or the bumper core supports and or painting the new bumper cover and or replacing or straightening the care and even pulling the frame.. Most body shops and dealers will estimate this job but they have to see it because of the stroy I just told. They most often estimate for free as your insureance companies adjuster wight also. They may even come to your work or home to see the problem. If you want to keep the insurance man out of the loop then go to an auto parts store that sells auto paint and supplies. They'll tellyou about their customers and what to expect from them. and you'll hear alot of different prices, including look good or look good and be good and strong, all the prices wil be different.

Radio quit working on 2001 Chrysler Town & Country

It sounds like your power cnnection to the radio may be frayed, etc. It really isn't that hard t pop off the bezel that surrounds the center consol and then unscrew and pull out the radio. There are YouTube videos that show you how. Once you do this, you can wiggle the cable and see if this is the problem.

I have a 97 Chrysler Town & Country Van with 104000 miles on it. The past two months the van will not start and run after driving for a while. Let it set for about an hour and it will start and run fine. When it does not want to run it will start and run for about 5 seconds then quit. During this time the dash instruments will not display but the radio, windows, and lights work just fine. The battery was replaced with in the past month so I don' t think that is the problem. Any seggestions?
