We have a 2000 dodge avenger with what we believe is an after market security system. It belongs to our son. He left an interior light on and ran the battery down. He jump started it and drove it for 30...
Make sure that the battery is not DEAD. Now, to be precise , there is no hard and fast rule. You could use the tricks below but if that would not work, you need to tow the vehicle to dealer. Unfortunately, there is nothing much a customer can do in this case.
First of all unplug all battery connection and then reconnect them after few minutes. Check, if that could improve the situation.Secondly, take first key, turn the ignition to the run position. Let sit for 3 seconds. Remove key.Take second key. Turn the run position. Let it sit for 3 seconds. Remove key.Wait for 1o seconds and then try it.
What i have seen on few models, if that's a dealer installed alarm,
there should be a valet or reset switch under the driver's dash that
you will switch with the ignition key in the ON position to disarm the
alarm. You could also try turning the switch to ON, and then installing the battery
cable. Be sure you are installing the positive cable first and the
negative cable last as well.
There is one more way, you could try. Turn off the ignition key, close
all the doors .Wait for app. 90 seconds Unlock the door with remote (
whether door locked or not ) and open door. ( Only if you have a remote key entry ).
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
