You can buy an A/C bypass pulley from an O'reilly auto or anyone that supplies Dorman parts. the pulleys are cheap and allow you to mount things and use the stock serp belt. You will have no AC ,though. The kit is designed with the intent of eliminaing the compressor, which is very expensive to replace.

The A/C compressor failed on my 97 Cavalier 2.2L. I just went to NAPA and asked for a belt for a cavalier without A/C.

What size serpentine belt to bypass ac compressor?

as there are engine running that have no ac fitted there will be belts to fit your car. Go to an auto parts shop that has a good selection of belts and they will have a catalogue with your belt listed.

Bypass ac compressor with shorter serpentine belt 2001-02 Mercury Sable LS

Because in most cases the routing will not work without the pulley for the compressor being in use. That's why some engines have a dummy pulley available to use in place of the compressor.
Not using the compressor pulley can cause the belt to drive a pulley the wrong direction, or not have the grooved side of the belt on a pulley.

Have a 2001 Hyundai Santa Fe v6 2.7liter. Ac compressor locked up and broke the serpentine belt.

Try A/C compressor clutch bypass. I believe some that I looked up were about $40-60 made by Dohrman. Your car is Foreign so it may be much higher. They are available through autoparts stores.

I searched and Advance Autoparts had some for different cars and a 15% Online discount. But you need to look at what has to come off to install it.

Also the part may show 6G where G is the number of grooves on the belt. This is crucial.

Depending on the configuration of the pulleys, all you may need to do is use a smaller belt and leave the old stuff in place. If A/C was an option for your car, try a belt from a VW without A./C.

You just need to remember that the Tensioner pulley has to work or the belt will slip off. That gives you a little leeway. Check for a different Tensioner pulley for the Non-A/C equipped VW which may be needed for this change.

Yes, It will Work. Just make sure that the Place where you get the Belt will allow you to Return the Belt if it will not Fit. Sometimes you may need a Shorter or Longer Belt. Please Rate My Response! Thanks!

!991 Olds 88...can I replace with a shorter serpentine belt?

Unplug wires going to the compressor, and let it freewheel, if it's not noisy in that mode. A/C compressor won't kick in if not connected. A lot less hassle than going the other way.
