My 2004 Elantra overheated the other day. I found no coolant in the reservoir. I filled it up, it was fine for a day. Yesterday it started to overheat again and again coolant was empty. I filled it again, but car overheated and died at a red light. It tries to turn over. I have not noticed any leaks in driveway. The a/c, heat did not work either. Thanks

You could have a blown head gasket turning the water to steam as you drive,, feel inside the exhaust pipe to see if there is antifreeze residue there , the heater won't work without fluid in it to be heated and blown out into the vehicle. To check the head gasket have a compression check done on the car, any one or two cylinders lower than the rest means its shot, Hopefully its not a warped head

Overheating, loss of coolant, reservoir not working

Sounds like to me your mechanic is on the right track by having the rad cap changed. If the coolant becomes low again in the near future and there is no visible fluid leak on outside of engine or on floor/ground then your problem is internal and possibly a head gasket.

My Dodge Stratus 2005 is leaking coolant. No trace to be found. I discovered last week that the whole coolant reservoir was empty. Yet the car's temperature was at normal level. There are no trace

Look in the radiator in the morning when car is cold take off the cap if it is full then look at the reservoir and make sure you see to lines on it one you fill to when cols the other you fill to when how it will say hot and cold fill lines fill yo cold when it is cold then next day check and see when cold if it is at the same mark

Where is termostat in hyundai elantra

It is not likely the thermostat, because the thermostat is showing that it is overheating,so it is working, you must have a coolant leak somewhere. You will have to find coolant leak. Car is overheating because it is low on coolant

Ford explorer 2000 antifreeze coolant reservoir empty. It was leaking after driving. I just filled it yesterday and it is empty again. I have been driving my car but its not overheating.

Ensure that there is no leak, checking all the coolant lines and the radiator.
If there is no leak and the car is consuming coolant liquid, then you may have a faulty head gasket.
What happens is that the head gasket allows coolant leaking and being vapourised inside the engine.
To find out if your head gasket is starting to go you can perform a compression test.

1999 GMC Jimmy Running Hot w/ Engine coolant reservoir empty

I guess the burning question is , where is the coolant going.
Is this a 4.3 engine? How many miles does the vehicle have?
Has the intake gasket been changed?
I'm guessing a can of "Bars Leak" may cure your problem.
Let me know.
