Remove door panel on a 2005 SSR inside door handel does not work

The lever that connect the internal handle to the door lock is broken, either at the lock or at the handle and it will have to be replaced.
For that the door cover will have to be taken off and this is very complicated and if done incorrectly very easy to damage some other parts and fittings inside the door - if you have never done this before then it's time to take it to your local repair shop. It will cost you about $250 part and labor.

Disconnect negative battery terminal. Pull out inside door handel,then remove screws from behind it then pry out the door handel bezel.Pry upwards and out on the armrest switch control plate and disconnect electrical connections.Remove the door panel screws through the armrest opening .remove the screws from under the door pull handel as well.Pry out the interiory lamps mounted in the ends of the armrest and remove the panel screws from behind it. Also make sure there are no lamps hidden from view like under the armrest if so pry out lamp and remove panel screws from under it.Next start at the bottom of the door and trim panel and pry out each retaining clip. Clips are approximately 8 inches apart.Once all of the clips and screws are removed from the door panel it can be removed by gently lifting up and out on door panel.Ihope you find this helpfull,good luck.

typical french car,it has a plastic clip that if someone slams the door it breaks and you need to remove the interior door panel/inner skin(plastic)to get to it (the clips on the door will break off.)the clip runs between the door handle and the operating mechanism.

HOW DO YOU REMOVE THE TRIM INSIDE OF A 2004 CHEVY SSR

CLIP OFF COVER ON DOOR HANDEL /REMOVE BOLTS FROM HOLES IN HANDEL/ PUSH UP ON PLASTIC RING ON WINDOW WINDER NOW PRISE OPEN DOOR PANEL FROM DOOR.

remove vertical screws from arm rest. ther may be other screwscovered by plastic caps. pull small triangular cover at top near dash covering mirror mounting bolts. pop window and lock switches up and out of the door pannel and be carfull when removing electical connections from those switches. then pop plastic panel around inner door handel out and turn to free from handel. Now u can start to remove the door panel. U can by a special tool at your parts store to pop the clips on the inside of panel or just pull it off starting from the bottom and working yourwhay around the sides and up to the top. then push upwards from the bottlm and the top lip should pop free of the door.

Follow the screws on the inside of the door. There will be several to find and then you can remove the inside door panel cover.

Yes, you'll have to remove the interior panel to assemble the linkage for the handle.

If you don't already have a panel removal tool, I'd swing by your local parts store and pick one up. They're normally around ten bucks and will save you from damaging your panel (sometimes they can be a bit tricky on these Explorers).
