Hi, My headlight went out and I want to see if I can replace it. As usual, it is not easy to unhook. I located the light but it is attached to wires and a blue clasp. I cannot detach it from the clasp. How is this usually done? From inside the engine or outside? Do I need to take apart the whole exterior of the light to get to the bulb? Any help would be appreciated. Land Rover would probably charge me a good 100.00 to change it:-)

Re: How do you unscrew the headlight to replace
Hi you get to the bulb from inside the hood, that thing that you see with cables is where the bulb conects to,turn the plastic thing counterciockwise and there is your bulb ,disconect the plug with a small screwdriver and get a new one , avoid touching the glass of the bulb with your fingers because the grease of the body may short the bulb life.(I hope this help)

Think they will do bulb replacement for you at the parts store maybe. They are usually pretty easy, just twist a 1/4 turn and remove. They are halogen witch means when on they reach temps over 500 degrees. So when installing the new bulb you can't touch the glass at all, or the grease from your skin will cause the bulb to blow up latterly. Just push in and turn the connector that is directly behind the headlight. They should both turn counter clockwise a 1/4 to 1/2 turn and the simply pull out.
I actually took mine to the dealer as I got fed up with trying the mud guard option in the manual. I watched the tech go in under the hood to remove what I believe was the air filter box, thus opening up more room next to the headlight. From there it was a matter of removing the rubber cap, unhooking the clip (still tricky) replacing it, and putting it all back together. Be sure to have all the connections nice and tight as they even still tripped my check engine light and had to reset it. Does the clicking sound only happen when you start it, or if you're accelerating and the car downshifts? That most likely would be something you may want a dealer to check out. Hope this helps!
Hi, this is very easy on most gm's you simply find the wire heading the ligh you wish to replace unscrew the fastener make sure you go the right was and read the owners manual unplug the light and reverse the operation
it is a very easy diy job. all you have to do is take the grill off by removing the signal lights and taking 5 to 6 screws out of the grill. pull the grill out of the way making sure to unhook the marker light wires. then on your headlight assemblies, unscrew the four 10millimeter screws on each then pull the assy. away and unhook your wires. install is the reverse of removal, its really easy. good luck
Replace light switch. Reach under the dash and find the switch you will feel a button on top of the wight switch push it down pull the switch knob all the way out, (Unhook battery first) then unscrew the beauty ring then pull the switch down and then remove wire connector and go buy a new one and replace it. if your a big guy it may give you a problem, but replace it before it burns up your wiring harness.
no, no, i don't think that you are missing something there, when i had the same issue i did it very easy (i mean a side-headlights located next to a main headlights). They are instaled with a little spring and you have to remove them. spirng of left side-headlight is visible and easy to remove, but right one is not visible and you have to take aut air sistem.
hope it will helpful
QUITE EASY, REAR OF HEADLIGHT IS A RUBBER CAP OR COVER, THIS JUST PULLS OFF,AFTER REMOVING THE LIGHT WIRING PLUG, .REVEALING THE CLIP WHICH HOLDS THE LIGHT BULB INPLACE. LIFT UP THE SPRING BY JUST SQUEEZING WHICH UNHOOKS THE SPRING FROM ITS HOLDER, REMOVE THE OLD BULB AND REPLACE WITH A NEW ONE. IT WILL ONLY FIT ONE WAY AS THE LOCATING PINS ARE IN DIFFERENT POSITIONS, REPLACE THE HOLDING CLIP AND THEN THE RUBBER CAP FINALLY REPLACE THE WIRING PLUG TO BACK OF LIGHT BULB.
heres how you go about removing the headlight and replacing bulbs:
you will need a 7-point star screwdriver (6+ inches)
1) unscrew the two screws on the tabs above the headlight fixture (if one is missing its not a big deal)
2) unscrew the screw on the bottom of the light fixture. It will be on the inside bottom of the light (towards the grille).
3) For the driver side: unscrew the screw that is slightly infront of the power steering reservoir (if its stuck you may need a wrench to get some movement). This screw only needs to be loosened, don't unscrew it all the way.
For the passenger side: unhook the left part of the air filter (don't worry, it pops in and out easily) there should be a screw towards the hole for the air filter on the upper left of the light, loosen it.
4) Slide the headlight fixture out of the car and undo the little metal clips over the covers. take off which ever cover holds the old bulb and replace it witht he new one. BE CAREFUL! DON;T TOUCH THE BULB WITH YOUR FINGERS, THE OIL MAY CAUSE THEM TO EXPLODE
And on the off chance you make the same mistake as me and drop the screwdrier into the engine block, park your car up on a curb and get it from below.
