Timeingbelt is off on 1999 kia

Timeing belt marks are off can't get them line up on 1999 kia .

Your either going to have to get the allignment tool (sometimes you can rent from autoparts store. Otherwise check out the below. You will need 2 people to do this manually without allignment tool will get you all the information you need when working on a kia 2nd only to a chiltons or haynes manual.

For register (its free) then select the information for your car make model engine. Then either do a search for timing belt or pick from proper items in cloumn to the left.

your best bet is to buy a book for this vehicle and follow the directions to the letter.the job is not that difficult, but if you don't get marks aligned right you can cause serios damage to you engine. good luck

I have a 2.5 DOHC i changed the timeing belt and head gaskets in but it will stop turning when turned by hand . all the timeing marks line up . help

The timing marks are align in the correct position before taking the old belt off. Now you will need to turn each cam & the crank to the correct position with the belt off then install the belt

You dont line up the belt itself - you line up the sprockets and other pulley wheels, then put the belt on.
There should be marks on your camshafts (in and ex) and main pulley, line these up and allow the belt to 'self-tension' on the wheels all should be good.

if the belt broke you more than likely bent valves but the marks on the gears line up witrh marks on valve cover and crank has a mark that lines up with mark on block

Replace timing belt on Kia Sportage

heres a trick i use get two office style paper clips instal belt on one cam put on clip to hold belt get lined up with mark then hold it there while you line up other gear install belt and clip now you can put the belt on and know both cam gears are in time

Timing belt replacement

i have a honda accord 2.2 and the timeing belt has 2 belts i have the main belt lined up but the small bet dosent have any markings to line it up with how would i line it up with out one
