Check all of the battery terminals and cables and check the wires on the starter/selonoid, start from the battery and follow the cable out and check all conections , clean and tighten them and if it still does it the starter/selonoid is bad and needs replacement...

Hope that helps..........

Remove and reconnect the battery connector maybe it's loose. Or test a different battery. Another possibility is the spark plug is burnt or too much carbon thus the metal contacts aren't touching each other

All spark plugs should be removed and checked every 30,000 miles and be changed at 60,000 miles. This prevents the plugs from seizing in the block, causing more expensive repairs in the future. Always note which plug came from which cylinder. This tells you if a particular cylinder has a problem. The distributor cap and the rotor usually, deteriorate with age and use. Cracks may develop, allowing moisture in. The metal contacts on both can then corrode, causing misfiring. These parts should be replaced at recommended time periods or if showing any excessive wear. Spark plug wires should be inspected for cracks and brittle coverings. These are not replaced as often as in the old days because of the improved materials being used in the wire itself.

Starter won't engage heat gauge goes across to hot when trying to start truck. What causes this?

Voltage drop? I'm guessing you don't have a voltmeter, so turn on the headlights and observe them as someone tries to start the truck. If the lights go out, bad connection at battery, starter, or ground. If the lights get dim, probably the starter-it's drawing power, just not working. If the lights don't change, check for power going to the starter solenoid on the small wire on the starter; voltmeter or test light, check if the small wire to the solenoid has power when key is held in start position-in crank position. There should be battery voltage there when the key is turned to crank. If so, the starter or solenoid is bad. If no power there to solenoid, power is lost somewhere between ignition switch and the starter wire.

possible problems- starter, starter relay, crank fuse, ignition switch not ignition lockset

1500 Ram wont start, no crank no click nothing. Air cond and dash lights work just fine just wont start. Battery is ok tried to jump, no luck, put in different battery no luck.

First thing is to check is the ignition fuse/relay under the hood for a blown fuse or bad relay. If everything is ok then set parking brake with truck in park/netural and have someone to turn the ignition over to start and at the same time use a test light to check for fire at the starter solenoid. If no fire then the ignition switch or netural switch on transmission is causing the problem. If you do have power to the starter solenoid then the problem would be either the solenoid or the starter drive locked up on the flywheel. Be sure to remove the negative wire from the battery if you need to remove the starter. Hope this will help you.

2001 dodge stratus want crank

It could be But my guess is it is the safety netural switch could even be a starter you can test it but you need jumper wires with aligator clips, you can try turning on the lights and turn the key switch over and if the lights dim slightly then it means it is making contact and pulling volatage but not starting, if the lights don't dim slightly then it could be the safety netural switch. If you can work with jumper wires and a couple safety stands I can help you test it.

On my 1990 camaro, 2 rods on the steering column are lose what do they lead to they turn my ignition key does this effect the starter because the car turns on all lights and everything works but car wont...

one leads to highbeam headlights switch the other leads to the electrical ignition switch that turns on the car and cranks the starter if you test the purple wire on the starter with the key in the crank position you shuold see 12 volts on that purple wire that comes from the ignition switch also try moving the gear selector shifter while holding key to crank could be netural safety switch problem

2005 GMC Sierra 2500HD 6.0 Won't turn over

I have seen many ign switchs. Check to see if the theft doesn't flash when you try to start. It is still posable that the starter is going. Have someone crank the engine. Check for power on the purple wire. If there is power and the it does not crank. Check that the big wire has a soild 12 volts. You can use a screw driver and jump the purple and the big 12v battery at the starter and it should turn on if not replace the starter
