Multable problems my horn wont work plus airbag light is on and cruise control doesn't work.on a 1999 chrsyler town and country minivan

Do you have buttons on the steering wheel for the cruise control ? Does your horn work ? There is a component under the steering wheel , on top of the steering column , called a clock spring ! I will include a video on it . Chrysler Van Clock Spring

Typical reason for no cruise and horn is a bad clock spring underneath the airbag. Typically you have an airbag light on as well and not an abs light

this problem is typically fixed by replacing the air bag clock spring, located below the air bag itself. Chrysler offered a lifetime warranty extension for certain 1996-1998 minivans with this problem. contact a Chrysler dealer and give them your vehicle identification number to see if yours falls under this warranty.

#1 Cooling fan relay may be mounted on the radiator fan itself or on the left side frame rail small circuit board looking with 2 screws holding it to frame near the radiator.
#2 your horn and cruise passes through the airbag clock spring, most likely the connection in the clockspring is open,replace it and you should be good

The clock spring in the new one you installed is most likely the problem. It is the part behind the steering wheel that the airbag, horn, and cruise controls plug into. It is very common on Chrysler minivans. Unfortunately it sounds like you inherited the problem with the used unit.

They are not that hard to replace. You will need a steering wheel puller. Sometimes you can rent them from your local auto parts store.

Disconnect the battery and wait about 20 minutes.

Remove the air bag from the steering wheel.

Remove the center nut that holds the steering wheel to the shaft.

Unplug the horn and cruise connectors from the clock spring.

Use the steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel.

Unplug the back connector to the clock spring.

Remove the snap ring that holds the clock spring to the shaft.

Remove the clock spring.

Since the one on the old column worked you can reuse that one if you choose. I would pull the one on the new column first so you know what to expect when you remove the old one from the old column.

This is definitely an issue with your clockspring. The clockspring is a device in the steering column that provides electrical contacts for horn, cruise and airbag. The good news for you is this part is covered under a Chrysler warrantee / recall.

It would appear your BCM (body control Module) has issues. The BCM is equal to the mother-board in your computer. See attached link for further info.

these vans are known to have faulty clock springs, which can cause the problems. I think there's a recall on them...give your local Chrysler dealer a call.

2001 town & country. My airbag/seat belt light came on, cruise control and horn stopped working. Dealer said it was the "clock spring" and usually covered as a recall item.

ON CERTAIN MINIVANS, THE DRIVER'S AIR BAG MAY BECOME DISABLED DUE TO A FAILURE OF THE CLOCKSPRING, WHICH IS LOCATED IN THE HUB OF THE STEERING WHEEL. Consequence Summary: THIS CONDITION WILL MANIFEST ITSELF THROUGH ILLUMINATION OF THE AIR BAG WARNING LAMP, AND COULD EVENTUALLY RESULT IN A DRIVER'S AIR BAG OPEN CIRCUIT, IF THE PART IS NOT REPLACED IN A REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME. OWNERS SHOULD CONTACT DAIMLERCHRYSLER AT 1-800-853-1403. A malfunctioning clockspring can also effect your cruise control,radio, wipers, and your horn relay. This can also happen one at a time til none of these are working.The solotion is to get the clockspring replaced . I DO NOT suggest you doing this on your own!
