They are not the same part number. So you would need to examine both to see how they are mounted and where the hoses connect.

Kia sophia overdrive doesn't work

The transmission in this car is electronically controlled, so if it isn't shifting properly the very first thing that must be done is to have the TCM (transmission control module) scanned for fault codes, in your case it is likely the a sensor that is called the VSS is defective. Have the test run. Aamco transmission repair will do the test for free and the preliminary diagnosis for free as well.

Please rate my help for Fixya, it improves my status and it is all I ask for my time helping you with your problem. Thanks

I have a 2001 Kia Sophia. This car has a manual transmission. Just recently I had a couple things done to the car (the cv joints in the front were recently replaced and the KIA dealership in my town put in...

Cars are made to last about 10 years, yours is at that age so things will be going wrong more frequently with it. The recent repairs you mentioned to me have nothing to do with the current complaints, which seem like a fuel supply or injector issue. So take it to someone who is familiar with Kia repairs.

Popular Problems Checks
1. Car will not go into gear:
  • Gear selector cable has failed
  • Brake lock solenoid/brake light swtich has failed not allowing the gear selector to move out of "Park"
  • Excessively low transmission fluid (note: if car is operated for an extended amount of time with low fluid level the transmission will fail prematurely)

  • Flex plate (flywheel) is broken completely not transferring engine power to the transmission.
2. Car goes into gear but then fades out of gear or is slipping while driving:
  • Transmission fluid is low
  • Transmission clutch discs or bands are worn out or burned
  • Faulty transmission shift solenoid.

Our 1998 kia sophia wont shift in gear any gear.over the winter the shifter woulndt move so i forced it to move ,now it only goes in reverse, drive can you pleace help me out

sounds like the shift cables are corroded or seized, forcing the shift may have bent the linkage. inspect and replace the shift cables and inspect the cable bracket, bend back into shape if required :)

Timing belt replacement for 2001 Kia Sephia

For California models recommended at 105,000 miles.Belt needs to be inspected at 60,000 and 90,000, miles and replace at 105,000 miles.
Except California replace at 60,000 miles. Note 1.8L engine is a interference engine, if timing belt goes bad will cause major internal engine damage.
