Carburator and idle problem

Believe it or not you just said the solution to your own problem manufacturers specs requires for any adjustments to engine idle or other carburator adjustments to be preformed while the engine is idling and at normal operating temp in plain english let the car warm up then make your idle and mixture adjustments if this doesnt solve it i would check the auto choke and make sure it is opening at normal operating temp hope this helps good luck

Rebuilt carburator and truck runs rich. Cant get adjusted right and under accelereation truck boggs down

im pretty sure that the float adjustment is set wrong, if to high it will act as if truck is flooding out, and be very rich. if to low you will not get the power you need. readjust float level. make sure there is no dirt inside carburator. for adjustment turn screws way in and back out 1 and a half turns.start from there.

How can you adjust the carburetor on a 1987 GMC safari van V-6

If the carburator has never been rebuilt, or the plugs that were installed at the factory have never been removed, you need to remove those plugs, there is one for each idle mixture screw, at the front of the base plate on the bottom of the carburator, 1 for the TPS adjustment on the driver side front of the carburator, and one for the mixture control solenoid on top of the carburator, in the middle, towards the front.

I am trying to start my 1980 gm 350 in my boat. engine will turn and have new fuel and filters. Pulled off coil wire and got spark, grounded a spark plug to the manifold and got spark. What could it be?...

definitely a fuel issue. be sure to check that the distributor isnt 180 degrees off. you say it'll start when you pour some fuel into the carb, it sounds like you arent getting enough fuel then. try adjusting the float level higher so that more fuel will be pumped through. and how old is the carb? has it been rebuilt recently? make sure the jets are clean and adjusted properly. make sure none of the mixture screws are bottomed out. it sounds like it's all the quadrajet's fault on this one!

Engine idles up and down

most likely it was the egr valve or the Iac valve that your talking about. however you might want to check to make sure the throttle adjustment if it is carburated or the tps sensor if it's fuel injected.please rate this solution. thanks
