I just had this problem with my 97 sc1. I found that the driver's rear tail lights were staying on dim when ever the car was running. In my situation, the cluster of wires that ties to the rear tail light is also the wires that tie to the fuel pump. Every time you hit the brake, it shorted out and cut the power to the fuel pump. Test for this problem by pulling one of your tail light bulbs, if the car shuts off or wont start without it, this could be your problem.

You may have a defective power brake vacuum booster. The booster is the large, black circular item behind the brake master cylinder. It should have a large vacuum hose going from the booster to somewhere on the engine's intake manifold. Try clamping this hose completely shut using a small pair of needle nose Vise Grips. Make sure no air can pass through the hose. Try stepping on the brake pedal after doing this. If the problem goes away, you need to replace the brake booster.

When I press the brake pedal i get a lot of resistence

this is an indication that the brake booster is not working as it should assist the brake action. If the engine is not going then the pedal will be hard to press down as there is no assistance.

Where is the parking brake release located in a 1993 saturn?

on the S and L series saturns the parking brake release is the button on the end of the handle. if the button is gone you will need to buy a replacement handle and have it installed. there are plenty for sale on eBay. anything up to a 95 should work on a 93. yours is an S series as that is all they made until 2000.

2002 Saturn SC1 - Starts fine and runs well until the engine gets warm. Then I will step on the gas peddle and the engine will die. Sometimes it won't die it will just have no power to move. Fuel Pump?...

Most Likely Coolant temp sensor & connector.Located in cyclinder head under upper radiatior hose. Two wires to connector yellow & black.Replacement sensor is brass (from saturn) Original is ceramic & cracks cause poor performance, stalling, idle issues. Also check plugs & wires for carbon tracking.Replace plugs & wires as a set all at once.Hope this helps

Check for vacum at the brake booster. It sounds like the vacum line is broken or maybe you have a defective booster unit leaking vacum.
