Question about 1993 Oldsmobile Cutlass Ciera

1 Answer

Roker Arms I was driving down the road at 30 mph when all of a suydden the car started running ruff, then she died. Would not start back up untill next day, but knocked really bad. I took the valve coffer off and found one pretty loose rocker arm. I finally found one at a yard, exact same engine (1993 3.3 Ltr), replaced the new rocker arm in place, checked push rod, (its OK), but I have the same problem. Did this with 4 other arms but all same thing. What am I missing here, why won't it tighten back down?

First off, do not overtighten the rocker. You will not make it any tighter and you run the risk of damaging that stud or the rocker. Compare the valve stem height to the other valve stems of the same valve type (exhaust or intake). If it's lower, you may have a broken spring or a stuck valve. Check the push rod against the other push rods, again from the same valve type. If it's lower, and your push rod is OK as you say, you may have a damaged lifter.

Why does my 93 Honda Accord run fine and then dies going down the road and will start again and die again?

There is a black fuel relay way up under the top left driver side dash that breaks its main wire solder connections on the circuit board under over-heat conditions. Resolder that relay. Starting fluid will show that you have lost fuel delivery under no start conditions. You can use the breather hose from the valve cover for this test.

I have a 93 Plymouth Sundance that has been running good until just a few days ago. When I now start it up, when stepping on the gas to head down the road, I can hold the pedal to the floor and it will...

Start with cycling your key, on ,off, on, off, on, leave on (not start)and count if check engine light flashes. For example: flash, flash, pause, then 2 more flashes is code 22. 3 flashes, pause then 3 more, is code 33 etc... Code 55 is end of message. Get back to us if you get any.
