Question about 1992 Chrysler Lebaron

1992 chrysler lebaron

We took and put a different transmission in this car and now it wont shift and i was told there is a fuse thatcontrols the shifting and i am tryin to find the location of that fuse if there is any?

First and foremost, check the fluid! Second, check ALL the vacuum lines in the vehicle. Now as for the fuse... referencing the shop manual, I can not find a transmission related fuse. Did you try checking the trouble codes, if any?

Transmission stuck in third gear

Hmm, are you sure its not second.This transmission does not have shift valves so the only way to have third is for the computer to command it.The default ratio is second (limp mode-no power to solenoids.This is common symptom with this transmission, any failure big or small will put transmission into limp mode.You could have a bad speed sensor( your trans has 3)or solenoid or something more major on the inside of transmission.You will need to have codes pulled in order to know which direction to go.If you will get me the codes and the CVI values i will tell you what is wrong.

Transmission will get stuck in a gear and wont up shift to the next gear or it will constantly up shift and down shift

suggest you check for a vacum line off that goes to the transmission modulator valve, which controls the shifting in transmission.or may possibly just be a bad modulator valve on the side of the transmission. 1st check for a vacum line off, with engine running do you hear a whistling or air sucking sound on top or rear of motor? if so, follow that sound to a hose or small black hose thats off.if you are driving the car and start off in low drive and can manually shift to upper gears with no problems,your problem is either a vacum line off, or it's a bad modulator valve on the transmission. hope this helps!!!

Cant get my Lebaron too shift into 3rd gear, it will shift into 1st and 2nd but just wont go into 3rd not even if you shut it off and restart it, or unplug the battery and rehuck it up.

Vehicle Speed Sensor or Variable Speed Sensor (located on the transaxle - closest to the drivers side front tire. it has a two pin connector)

91 lebarron wont shift grears when its in drive,

Does it act like it is stuck in 2nd? (Limp in mode) Have the TCM scanned it has trouble codes stored in it.

It may be time for a tranny service. They will change the filter, fluid, etc, and check it out. Better than having to buy another tranny if this one has a fixible problem.

We have a 1992 chrysler lebaron v6 3litre when we are driving the car sometimes we feel a pause and it goes into first and then a clunk and the same when it goes into 3rd. Would that be signs of a cv joint...

Sounds like the shift solenoids. A common problem, but before fixing that, try swapping the fluid with Multi-Vehicle type fluid. That transmission, mine included, seems to work better. If no improvement, then shift solenoids
