I have a 2003 Chevy Silverado 2500HD 6.0L When driving it will cut off and not run. Sometimes if I cost to side of road and wait a few minutes it will restart. Sometimes when it is cold or hot it will not start but just keep on cranking and sometimes it will start sputter a few seconds and stall. Changed crank sensor, fuel pump, and starter due to frying it from constantly trying to restart. Can anyone offer some insight I am frustrated.

SOURCE: engine shuts off while driving

I would suspect a faulty EGR valve, but is the check engine light on? If it is, take the vehicle to an autoparts store and have them use a scan tool to retrieve the fault code(s) stored in the computer. Most parts stores offer this service free of charge. That will narrow the search for the problem. Sure hope this helped.

SOURCE: my 1997 chevy van will cut off while driveing and

There could be many things to cause this problem.
Ideally when it quits is the best time to begin the diagnosis. First thing is to check to see if there is spark at the spark plugs when cranking and listen to hear the fuel pump run when you first cycle the ignition on.
But going on experience and what you have told me so far I would begin with ignition problems.
Because you mentioned it quit while driving and restarted after a cool off period it makes me think that an ignition part is failing when hot.
Engine heat and electrical current flow can heat electrical circuits, expand them, and go open circuit.
An ignition module, the pickup in the distributor or the ignition coil would be on my first checklist.
Give me a note back if you need more leads.

I had the same problem-my check engine kept coming up with crank sensor(replaced several times- the car would run for 2 days then stall again)finally checked and replaced the wiring harness and the car ran great for awhile. Now I have a whole new problem(abs lights started coming on and the gauges all died while driving at which point the car just stopped and woulkd not restart)thinking alternator(the battery works great in another car)
