There are 2 capped ports the low and high sides. The freon gauge set will only fit on one of the two ports. The low side. Run the ac attach the freon hose and add as necessary
Find the air compressor located on the engine and follow the two metal tubes coming out of it. One tube is the high side and the other is the low side. Keep following them until you find a tee with a plastic cap. The red cap is the high side, the blue cap is the low side. If you're trying to re-charge the AC then the recharge fitting will only go on the low side, it won't fit the high side on purpose.
The low side freon port is always located between the compressor and the accumulator. The low side port also has a blue/light blue colored cap. The HIGH side will always have a red cap.
if you are asking if you add refrigerant to the high side or low side, you add it to the low side. the single recharge hose only connects to the low side, which has a smaller connector than the high side. so you can't make a mistake. if the caps are colored red and blue, the blue would be the low side.
On 2001 Montana it is the low pressure side right between the radiator and the front of engine. A plastic cap is on the port (my cap is blue ).look for the aluminum a/c tube. stupid place to put line, lots of heat
goes in the low side service port follow the larger line/hose until u come to the smaller service port ,this is where u pu it in at the smaller line has the larger service port ,it`s for measuring high side preasuree only
Look for the accumulator(silver can a/c lines go to) on the passenger side of engine area. The Low side charging port cap should be on the side of the accumulator.
This is really a fix for a shop, but what you are looking for is a fitting that looks like the air valve on a tire... but be careful, there is also a similar fitting on your fuel rail. The fitting you are looking for should be on the A/C line near your condenser (looks like another radiator) or near the dryer (which looks like a tall can).
Kinda thought so but had to make sure! Tym pic is great help also
