Oil travels when it leaks, the most common cause is the cam chain tensioner to the right side of the engine at about the same level as the water pump. You have to remove the bracket holding the power steering pump to gain access. A new seal is required there. Be careful not to undo the entire tensioner, this is spring loaded. Just remove the 13 mm bolt from the centre.

Need to know year and make of vehicle,but oil should not be coming from water pump mounting bolts ,check to see if oil is leaking from above the water pump .it may be just accumulating on water pump .steam clean engine and check, you could remove the bolt with oil around it take a mirror and check to see if the hole goes into crank case or if it's a blind hole ,if it goes all the way threw oil is running down into hole around threads of bolt and out to where you see it , when you replaced water pump do you remember seeing anything on the bolts (RTV, blue or orange color lock tight, if so remove bolt put RTV on bolt and reinstall it(if you decide to use lock tight do NOT use red the bolt will not come out ever again, make sure you use blue lock tight!!!
If it is in the radiator it should as the fittings are the only problem you are likely to encounter. If you are wondering if the cooling capability is affected consider this . Hot tranny oil has to be cooled in the radiator water and this heat makes the radiaror work hard.Why don"t you consider a external cooler. They keep the oil cooler as they are are running in the outside air. Ie air temp 30 deg C oil temp 150c+ water temp 85degC oil temp 150c. You can see that the tranny oil looses more heat and it will not overload the radiator capability
Have the engine pressure washed, then drive it for about 10 miles and check the source of the leak. Drive at low speeds so air flow doesn't blow the oil all over and make it harder to see area of leakage.
SMOKE UNDER HOOD COULD BE COOLANT LEAK FROM RADIATOR ITSELF OR CHECK FOR LEAKING TOP RADIATOR HOSE AND CHECK FOR LEAKING BOTTOM RADIATOR HOSE.LOOK UNDER THE HOOD IF COOLANT BOILING OUT COOLANT OVERFLOW JUG ENGINE OVERHEATING FROM BAD THERMOSTAT OR BAD WATER PUMP.CHECK FOR COOLANT LEAK AT WATER PUMP WEEP HOLE.IF SO WATER PUMP NEED REPLACING.ADD MORE COOLANT UNTIL LEVEL CORRECT.TRY LOCATE LEAK. IF CAR OVERHEATED AND BOILED IT OUT. SMOKE UNDER THE HOOD CAN ALSO BE CAUSED BY LEAKING VALVE COVERS WHICH CAN BE FIRE HAZARD IF OIL LEAKS ON HOT EXHAUST MANIFOLD.
Hi, It says in your question that you have a 1995? Falcon Wagon. I assume you mean something like a 1965. I used to drive one from time to time when I was young and I loved it. Anyway "Still Heats up". My automatic response to that would be 1 Replace the thermostat as that is the very least expensive job and should definitely be kept up with. When a thermostat sticks, you get overheating. 2 Then I would back-flush the system to remove any rust in the block. Prestone makes a good kit to install, if you haven't done it already. On an Iron Block engine, you back flush the rust out of the engine till the water goes clear. I've put these kits into every vehicle I've owned since the time of your Falcon. . After that, Would be to replace or rebuild the water pump. If it very old. The impeller, which may be made of metal may have deteriorated, rusted or simply wore away. I hope this helps. could be a head gasket (coolant going into exhaust or into oil) pull oil dipstick does it look light brown like the color of a chcolale milkshake if yes u have bad head gasket does exhaust blow white smoke? if yes bad headgasket ? pull radiitor cap off let van run for while does water come out of raditor at a fast rate if yes (possiable ) bad head gasket
also could have leak your not seing look closely around where intake meets heads notice any water trails or see any water leaking ? if yes bad intake gaskets look closely around water pump any trails of water there ? if so bad water pump also check closely around seams of raditor for water trails
after all this u dont see any thing might need to take it to a shop and have it pressure tested (some leaks will only show up under pressure) most shops won' t charge much if anything for this service
What color is the smoke ? is it bluish or is it white ?
The blue colored smoke would smell more like burning oil, which would indicate a broken piston ring, ect. the white smoke if it smells of coolant(anti-freeze) would lean toward a head gasket problem.
Possibly,the sealant used should be the white teflon that comes in tape form or as a liquid in a small squeeze bottle.The liquid form,you would want the threads free of oil,the teflon tape,oil present doesn't matter,although the tape should be applied to the threads in the opposite direction of the threads.The threads would screw into the block clockwise,so apply the tape from the counter clockwise direction.It is also possible that the sending unit itself has a small crack somewhere,and these sending units aren't all that expensive,so i would install a new unit while using the teflon.
