The front brake not pressurizing my guess would have to be that the brake line is not tight, or there is a brake, kink or some type of blockage in the system that is not allowing the breaking system to pressurize. The ABS warning system not functioning would be that there is something wrong with one of the sensors or the sensor is not connected. I would honestly take it back to the mechanic and make them figure this out due to the fact that this is unsafe and the mechanic could be in serious trouble if anything where to happen

Brakes are hard to depress causing stopping problem

1: inspect all brake linings first.
no pulling left or right braking?
the car has 100% full manual brakes. if the brake booster fails.
(its only and assist !!! for 50lb small folks)
so does it? it takes more pedal pressure but has 100% full braking.
this is no accident its by design.
make sure none of the brake shoes/pads are soaked in DoT3/4 fluid
or grease or gear oil.
and no brake fluid leaks end to end, this is really #1 on all cars.
look, then look again. even behind and in front of the master cylinder.
look at tires (inside for fluid leaks>)
2: do the booster test. did the vacuum hose to it fall off?
or got pinched, or ?

google brake booster test
if ABS system. get it all checked,
if ABS get the ABS scanned.

if you cant stop correctly,,,,???? , dont drive.
get it fixed.

SIr, I have a land cruiser 1985 BJ74, it has a brake problem, i have to press brake pedal with a reasonable of force to get it work, further my suv slightly turns to either left or right on braking....

Hi, it sounds like your front calipers need servicing, they are not working properly (seized/sticking)and it is quite possible that all your problems are related to your brakes, front brakes in particular, have your local mechanic look at them, it will be costly as you will find you will need new rotors (might get away just machining them), brake pads, reconditioning (if its servicable) brake calipers.

1998 chevy express van 3500 front brakes and rear are new, front calipers are new but ABS light on dash is on, the front brakes smoke after a little while of driving. Thanks Joe

I'd first make sure the new pads are the correct size. Doesn't happen very often but maybe the parts person gave you the wrong size pads ( for the smoking problem). As for the ABS light, most newer cars will throw out codes if you wait too long to change them out, I would contact a chevy dealer or search online about reseting the code (light).

WITH PEDAL HELD DOWN OPEN BLEEDER SCREW GETTING AIR OUT OF THE SYSTEM.WHEN YOU SEE SOLID FLUID COMING OUT OF BLEEDER HOSE THE AIR IS OUT THE BRAKE SYSTEM.DONT DRIVE CAR ON HIGHWAY IF YOU STILL CANT GET SOLID BRAKES. HAVE CAR TOWED IN TO BE PRESSURE BLEED.

Front brakes not releasing properly.

Sounds like the caliper needs replaced. Sometimes the pistons lock in the caliper and cause the brakes to drag. When the mechanic changed the brakes before, he pushed the pistons in all the way to accomodate the new brake pads. Now that they are wearing back down, it is getting to the warped spot in the caliper and starting to stick.

Changed front brake pads. brake pedal goes to floor. no brakes

Something doesn't sound right, you shouldn't have to remove the brake line to install pads. Did you have to do this on both sides? Do the new pads and the old pads look the same? Did you get the caliper on crooked? Just recheck your work first before replacing more parts. When you install the caliper, You have to hook the pad on one side first before you slide it over the rotor.
