Question about 2000 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

1 Answer

My daughters 2000 VW Jetta has some sort of leak - under the hood -she had driven about 3 blocks when there was "steam" coming from under the hood on the passenger side. We stopped and open the hood. There was a yellowish greenish liquid spraying out of some sort of hose/connection that is back behind the coolant reservoir/overflow. The manual does not indicate what this part is. I would like to know before we take it to an auto repair shop or dealership. We drove the car back home - 3 blocks - the car ran fine - but obviously we did not drive it very far. Thank you for some insight!

2000 vw jetta 2.0 checked oil no oil showed on dip stick. saw that oil leaked into coolant system. replaced head gasket w/ new head bolts. flushed system, drained oil, new filter. after all done no oil...

Most likely place for oil into coolant is oil cooler, the aluminum box that mounts between the oil filter and a flange that comes off the block.

I own a 2000 VW Jetta. Radio completely Dead

Have you checked the radio fuse? You may have blown the fuse when you jumped the car. The fuse box should be out under the hood encased in black plastic.

My 2002 VW Jetta leaks on the passenger side every time it rains. The water leak is worse when the car is parked and not being driven. I suspect it has something to do with the weather stripping.

i was a water leak specialist for vw and mainly the leaks are from around the rubber at the windshield as well as follow down through the antenna the 2 fuses under the drivers dash are 45.00 each 20 years ago im sure three more than that now ...use a garden hose and start low and after a few minutes raise it little by little until leak is found as well as a 2nd person in the vehicle with a light to look for the leak you may caulk or of that nature using tape to ensure a nice straight line on the windshield and not make a mess sometimes it even comes from the fenders and so look carefully and raise the hose upwards going slowly allowing the water to penetrate the area in which it finds its way in

2000 Jetta is Leaking antifreeze and smoking

I think you mean you saw water vapor (some call it steam) not smoke.

You probably have a hose leaking (badly). If it's not a hose, your water pump shaft seal is probably kaput.

Valve job for 2000 VW Jetta GL w/105,000 miles

is he sure it isn't the rings are worn also?  If so don't waste money on a valve job, when you really need a rebuilt motor.  Had you changed the oil more you wouldn't need this repair at this time.  Good uck as his price is decent.  Ask him the price for a long block?
