No the radiator is aluminum with thermal plastic side tanks. See attached picture.

I have a 1997 nissan quest I'm not exactly sure which way the thermostat goes in


the body of the thermostat (the bit with the spring or copper body with a rod to the flapper valve ) always faces the engine water away from the hose . It is this section that sensors the water temperature of the head or block and opens the flap valve to allow the water to flow to the radiator.. Check the unit as quality units have either head or rad stamped on the mounting flange

Rear heat quit working in 2003 Kia Sedona?


i had the same problem back in 2007 0n a 2003 Kia sedona xl found out that there ate copper tubes running from the rad to the rear heater had small pin holes in those tubes'. Had to replace the tubes but if you get it rom Kia it will be pricey. Try a auto parts shop they maybe able to help you. But also check main rad if you see any leaks or coolant on the grond may have to replace rad at same time

Transmission fluid in radiator could lines be switched


no way you need a new rad to solve this one the internal tube has split or broke ,just disconnect the pipes and seal the rad connections up with a couple of blanking plugs to stop the water leaking out then the transmission pipes you make a nice sort square round out of some copper plumbing pipe and connect this to the transmission pipes from the gearbox run in front the AC rad and this will save you from buying a new rad which the last time i bought one for this motor was about 550 euros as i couldnt one made by a recon company only original part from deal;er

The oil cooler has broke mixing the gearbox oil and coolant is this a big job


yes its expensive ,so disconnect the oil cooler pipes from the rad then buy some copper pipe about a 1/4 then make a nice few tubes with a plumbers pipe bender and make it fit infront of the rad or the ac rad where applicable then use a compression joint to connect it all up this will work just as well ,seal up the oil connection on the radiator with a couple of blanking plugs and away you go

Change radiator and coolant is overflowing in overflow bottle. now have radiator with bigger core but using same cap


when a vehicle gets to around 10yrs old or a high mileage the head gasket starts to fail unlike the old copper ones so seek advice from a garage who will put a pressure tester on the rad and run engine then check for a build up of excessive pressure which is a sign of a head gasket fatigue

I am trying to put in Bar's liquid copper seal leak for the intake and radiator. The instructions says to put it in the radiator, but I do not see the radiator opening any where, all I see is the plastic...


That is the rad cap. They call this a surge tank. The rad it self does not have a cap. If your intake is leaking I would not put the stop leak in because it will not stop it. the 3.4/3.1 l engine is known for intake leaks. the problem is the gasket is made of plastic and it cracks. If coolant is going inturnal then you have to change the intake gasket or you will damage the lower end. sorry for the bad news. An intake will cost about $700 can

Low heat running & no heat at idol


I'm betting your heater core is getting plugged up. With vehicle cooled off, drain rad, and remove heater hoses going into firewall at back of engine area. Cut & connect a garden hose of proper size to one of the copper tubes coming out of the firewall. Run water through it for a while to clear it out, now connect it to other tube & do the same. Re-attach hoses, fill rad with proper coolant mix and start engine with heater (not defrost) on while you do it. Keep topping up rad as coolant goes down. Let it run for a while, and rev the engine a little every once in a while and hold it there for 20-30 seconds just to speed up the air bleed and circulation process. Leave the cap off until it reaches normal operating temperature & wait for rad fan to come on, then off 2 to 3 times to make sure all air is out of the system. Put rad cap back on & top up coolant return bottle to proper level, and check that bottle for a couple of days just in case level goes down a bit after. If you have the time when heater hoses are off, I recommend plugging one of the tubes, (bottom one) and using the hose for flushing attached to other tube, and a funnel, and filling the core with "CLR" and letting it sit in there overnight to clean out calcium build up better inside the heater core. Then drain it, flush it & re-connect next day, but that's up to you. Good Luck, let us know how it goes.
