How to replace a 1992 Mercedes 400e ecu/ecm

Best practice is to treat the old ECU as if it is in good working order.

Disconnect the battery and wait about half an hour before disconnecting and removing the ECU. Once disconnected do not touch any of the exposed pins except for any necessary cleaning when you should be firmly grounded.

!992 is late enough to have a passive anti-theft system installed and if so the ECU is likely to be coded. Any replacement will need to be decoded or recoded before it will work.

Does ECU mean " Emission Control Unit" isn't that the computer itself, Only the dealer can recode it?? Right!!

ECU (engine control unit), ECM (engine control module), PCM (power train control module) VCM(vehicle control module). Basically your vehicle's computer. There are independent shops with the hability and the technology to reprogram it but for sure your manufacturer's dealer.

Ireplaced my ignition in my ford truck now it wont start. Why

Hi There.
Some ignition systems need a control unit that picks up on, Engine, ignition key and ECU's in paticular vehicles to prevent theft without coded keys. you may need your ignition and / or car recoding..

Recode steering angle sensor

For recode the steering angle sensor you must connect a diagnosis scantool to the data link connector of the car in order to access the ESP ECU (Electronic Control Unit), in other words programm again the steering angle sensor in the ESP ECU. Select the steering angle sensor programming (learning) menu, and follow the steps: put steering wheel in straight direction, then turn steering wheel to the left direction less 15 degrees, then to the right direction less 15 degrees, put steering wheel in straight direction again until the programming was done. Then the ESP light will turns OFF.

Hello, The ecu on my car has packed in again. so was wondering if i brought another ecu from same sort off car will it work? or does it need to be recoded to the car

same car ecu should work. Provided exact same engine and part. You can check the part number against them. Think there supplied by bosch for this car.
