You will need to get the panel off, there are screws in the armrest, if window crank will be clipped/screwed on then its just a matter of popping off the sides with a flat tip, lifts up and out, once panel is off you should be able to unlock door. Tim

its a spring that hooks to the handle, I am almost certain

  • Tim Whalen May 29, 2011

this is from I thread I found hope it helps, Tim....The spring is about 3/4 inch long. The piece that broke of was the hook on the other side of the spring. I would imagine you're holding a spring with a hook at one end, about 5 or 6 coils then it ends with a jagged edge. At least with mine it was. And yes, look at the other door to see where it goes. As you're looking at the actuator in the driver door, the spring will go on the upper left side holding two levers together. It'll probably be on the upper right side on your passenger door. You won't be able to miss it!!
finding a replacement spring was difficult. For me at least. I was stuck on finding one the same size and gauge steel. You don't need it to be the same gauge steel. The length is important. You can try Orchard and Home Depot. They carry springs. I went with a spring that was smaller gauge thickness of steel but was about the same length and it works fine. It's pretty cramped in there so you may have to remove or adjust the anti-lock picker flange thingy that Toyota put right in the way of you being able to put the spring on. Like I said, I had to drill mine with 5 or 6 holes in order to bend it out of the way so I could put the spring on. I tried to grind it off with a dremel but couldn't get the right angle on it. Also thought of my Makita Sawsall but felt I might damage the actuator behind the flange. I mostly bent the flange thing out of the way because it looked like such a large pain in the a$$ to remove the actuator from the door. There just isn't much room to move around in there as you've probably already noticed!!!

All my remotes won't unlock passenger doors, why?

this is a problem that can appear after your car battery died, cause the car didn't reset propely, so taking the battery out and putting it back in or letting your car die again would do the trick. I tried a lot of reprogramming procedured for my remote key, none of them worked, what did the trick though was simply unlocking the doors via the all door unlock button on the passenger side door, so simple.

1999 GMC Sierra The electrical door opener stopped working. The door continues to automatically lock when the truck is driven but I must manually unlock it to get out. The remote door lock and unlock...

The relay is working fine if the automatic locking system is working. The module for the automatic door locks has a circuit to lock the doors upon shifting the vehicle to drive. The circuitry has a relay built into it that unlocks the doors when parked so that module is not fuctioning properly for the unlocking mode

2005 gmc yukon back passenger doors will not unlock with key remote and rear hatch wont unlock or open

Either the relay for the locks is bad or the fuse. When you push the power lock on the inside if the doors do not unlock then I would check the fuses, both inside and under the hood. If they do work then the relay/s may be bad. You are pushing your key button twice correct?

you need to spend some time triing the best you can to get the top of the door panel open a bit to see what is broken inside, most likely a clip. The other thing to try is a slim jim to get the door open then repair the door lock.
