Sounds like the battery went dead in the remote. Usually there will be a slot on the remote you can stick a coin in and pry the back off, allowing you to change the battery.

There may not be a connection to manually locking and remote locking. Have the key programmed first and then see if there is a problem

If the windows open or close if you hold the key in open or close position then the alarms working .You could break open a window no alarm but the car will not start owning to immobilisor .Not all cars have the type of alarm your thinking of ,and dont bother fitting one of these viper things as i get loads of questions on here when they go wrong which is often owing to the cheapo microcircuits used from china .

I have a 2000 Audi a6 2.7t and it has some sort of electical problem. When I try to unlock the door , it locks its self back up and the alarm turns on. I re-programed the remote thinking that was it but...

Ok the AUDIS and VWS have micro switches in the door latches and the drivers side may be stuck or shot try unlocking the passenger side with a key. You can also try the driver side with a key. If you can get the doors open them and get your battery disconnected both cables put key in ignition and turn it to the run position the hook your battery back up while the key is still on. That should disable the alarm till you lock the doors again.

Sounds like you are having problems with your built-in alarm system. Like most systems in your Audi, you can read the error codes stored in the controllers. It takes a tool normally only a dealer has (VW or Audi) or an adapter like the VAG Com. (Google it)

I also think you can disable the alarm system and just use the key.

Could the lock button on your remote be stuck? Use a different key/remote. (leaving the suspect key at home.) The keys/remotes can be taken apart....
