Everytime i accelerate past 4-5000rpm the car jerks and check engine light comes on - after i switch engine off and back on light doesnt come back on???

Sounds like a misfire. But honestly it could be anything. If the check engine light is on that could point you in the right direction

There are a few different problem areas in your vehicle that come to mind as I was reading your complaint. I will go over the wire diagram for this neon and see exactly what we could be dealing with. Most importantly, I see your check engine light is coming on. If you can scan it while its on and get the codes I will be able to tell you pretty much exactly what is causing this jerking issue. Hopefully its a simple fix, could be under the hood, mechanical or electrical. Ive seen these pcm's fail in the past also. Advanced auto or autozone typically scans codes for free. Please Advise

have you checked your fuel filter first, then check your fuel pump

check the transmission fluid. if its not this then I would suggest taking it in to a parts store to have the codes pulled on it..jm

My 2012 gmc terrain has done this twice. Remote started to cool, got in car turned and turned key, out foot in bread to put from park to drive and it jerked forward and killed when I hit the gas. Moved about 2 inches. Then the next day (yesterday) I got in turned key and put foot on break to put from park to drive and put foot on has petal slowly and it jerked. Let off the gas and hit the gas again and it was fine. We are about to leave for a 5 hour trip. Is it safe? What's wrong? Will I get a check engine light? Worst case what happens? Thanks

All the above problems were happening to my truck, and the engine light never did come on. Finally changed the O2 sensor, and it runs like new again.

The thick rubber hose from the air filter to intake manifold leaks (broken). Replace. Clear compuuter, enjoy

sounds more likely to be a warn sensor could be cam or crank sensor, its not being able to read engine speed to adjust time.

Sounds like lean operation. Is the engine light on?

COULD BE MANY THINGS CAUSING ENGINE TO SURGE LIKE RESTRICTED FUEL FILTER.DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS FAULTY APP OR ACCELERATOR PEDAL POSITION SENSOR.
