Question about 1997 Lincoln Town Car
To save yourself from being ripped off this is what I did.drop trans pan....replace control email@example.com..AZ-76921.replace shift interlock sol.@50.00 AZ-924-733...install new filterAZ-tf-403 /with gasker 14 bolt hole..you won't need to replace all the fluid[13.9 qts..need about 8qts.40.00...I did not no for sure what sol. needed but for the price of fluid and the low cost of parts it is best to replace both tot. about 160.00 shifts great, took my time and was a 2 hr. job.hope this is your sure cure.

Check the fluid if it is not red and looks dark and smells burnt then an overhaul or replacement is needed, it is possible for transmission specialists to fix shift problems sometimes, but if the fluid is burnt then it is at most a temporary solution.
