Question about 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee

2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Jeep will start up no problem, drive no problem, its when i am slowing to take a corner or when i stop the rpms slowly decrease and within a few seconds the jeep dies. Please help me out with this one. Thanks

Check the vacume pipe from the brake servo to the inlet manifold [petrol] model.

    Thanks for you help, but i figured it out. I took out the Idle Control Valve... it was caked in carbon. Cleaned it off with some carb cleaner and viola! Very easy fix.
    Just wanted to answer my question for others looking at the same problem.

I have replaced TPS - throttle position sensors on jeeps for this same problem ! Fixed them right up . But use jeep parts , not aftermarket ! Jeep's don't like aftermarket parts .

Not shifting until 4000 rpms then very slow accel.


Check condition of the tranny fluid it should be pink. Bring the jeep to a muffler place and have them check the cat convertor for blockage.

For the high rpm part, have you looked to see if there is a vacuum leakage or possibly a fault in the Idle Air Control motor.

With overheating since jeeps are single belt driven it could be possible the fan is starting up when driving slow or parked because the belt is moving right. Or look for leaks in the coolant maybe it's not getting enough coolant.

fluid in the glove box though, can you be more specific with that one.

Transmission stays in first gear


it would cost less to replace the transmission than to have that one rebuilt shop around and see if you cant find a trans for it and have someone put it in for you

its most likely the transmission i have a 96 jeep grand cherokee laredo 12 yrs old ..it went about 3 months ago.i would take off at normall speed and it would rev. to about 3,000 RPMS and then the gear would catch ,and give u wiplash.lol but then it got worse. it would be fine taking off then while i was driving ,,i would be going any speed but wen i got up to speed it would start reving high [the gear was sliping] and i had to get it rebult it was like $3'000 grand plus
