THIS MORNING WHEN I STARTED MY 98 DEVILLE, THE IDLE WAS SUPER HIGH...LIKE IN THE 2000-2350 RANGE! WHEN I CHECKED THE CODE IT READ P0122. IF I REPLACE THE TPS SENSOR WILL THIS CORRECT THE PROBLEM OR IS THERE SOMETHING ELSE TO IT?

Reading codes

Check the wiring to the throttle body, check the supply voltages as well. Check fuses too, it sounds like it received a voltage spike and then lost voltage and is now forcing limited rpm.

P0122 p0405

Code 122 is for a low signal from the TPS, and code 405 is for a low signal from the EGR position sensor. The computer sends a 9 volt signal to most of the sensors and the return signal tells the computer what is happening.
For example, if most of the 9 volt signal comes back from the TPS the computer knows the throttle is closed.
I would check the two circuits to see if the reference voltage is there. If it is not, it could be a problem in the harness, or inside the computer.

Check engine light came on trouble shooting code is P 0122

Code P0122 is a TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) sensor out of range.

The operating range of the TPS is about .5 to 4.8 volts. .5 at idle 2.5 at half throttle and 4.8 at full throttle.

This can be checked easily with a scanner. But can be checked with a multi-meter.
P0122 Tjrottle Position Sensor low voltage

You can try replacing it for a start and see what happens

yes, this is the case of a failed throttle body, in which case it needs replaced, the car is getting too much fuel causing the high idle. this needs replaced asap. you could proably find a small independant honda shop that could do the work for less.

IDLE CONTROL MOTOR SET TO HIGH

The system has to be reset by the Dealer. The computer is still reading a hard code stored. or There could be a mass air flow sensor out of range. The dealer or a local shop with the correct type of equipment should be able to check the Air Flow sensor and the Computer.
