2003 grand prix SE - blower motor installation

Blower ceased working (worked for about 2 months on level 5 only) - have purchased new blower... need help installing it - tried to find chilton or a haynes for the car, but no one has it in hard copy. can purchase a haynes on line version for 25 bucks but did not want to do that. I might be a little bit smarter than a box of rocks so I just step by step instructions on this and for fixing the washer fluid pump as it has ceased to work (about the same time that i lost blower levels 1 through 4 - are these two units on the same fuse/breaker?)

final question. do all 2003 GP-SE's experience electrical issues? I do not have audio panel lights, the cd and radio will work, i just can't read the radio station or the clock.

I've got a 97 Grand Prix and had some similar problems with the blower & control. On my car there is an electronic module inside the blower housing, accessible from under the dash. The blower motor is changed from under the dash. I blew two of these electronic units and the blower motor before finding out that the problem was due to water running down the windshield and into the blower motor housing. There is a gasket under the plastic wiper cowling at the base of the windshield that was not replaced properly at the dealership when they did some recall work on the wiper control arm. They never did come good for their mistake/shoddy workmanship.

In addition, the dirt and **** that ran into the blower housing along with the water, caused a little drain tube that comes out the firewall to plug up, letting water build up inside the housing and then drip into the passenger compartment. Water accummulates in there naturally due to condensation from the air conditioning, if the drain tube is plugged it has no where to go and ends up blowing the electronic module that controls the blower speed.

The heater and a/c in my 2003 grand prix will on

Your blower motor resistor is the problem.
The blower motor resistor is located near the blower motor on the passenger side in the heater case. The resistor is held in by two screws and has one electrical connector that plugs into it. Purchase the resistor and you will know exactly what you are replacing. Good luck

Heater blower motor only works on high on 2002 pontiac gran prix se-instructions on diy replacement i have the part. Heater Fan works occasionally on speed 5 only. When it doesn't work at all the lights...

for the fan blower motor it could be the resistor or the fan control speed control switch is bad.for no lights replace the DRL RELAY for the lights. for the heated seats check the fuses.

Fan only works in the off and 5 position, does not work in 1to 4

You probably need to replace the blower motor resistor. Located on the blower motor below your glovebox. about $25 for the resistor.

Climate control switch does not work in lower modes only in high.

The resister is located under the dash in the passenger footwell area. It is to the driver's side of the blower motor up against the firewall.

To remove, it's easiest to remove the passenger seat to lay down on the car floor. Next, find the blower resistor, remove the connector, remove the one front bolt and just loosen the two bolts by the firewall. Pull the resistor down and out from the two bolts. Installation of the new resistor is the opposite of removal.

Hope this helps
