If there is no water dropping underside the car then it is the radiator pressure cap who is releasing the coolant out in form of vapor replace the cap but first check the coolant color if it is turn into milky color then it is the cylinder head gasket

thx... how can i fix it if its the cylinder head gasket? and what is the right pressure cap for my car?

  • khaled hussien May 30, 2011

any cap that fits well on radiator will work nothing particular
if it is cylinder head gasket you should notice that the water color turn into milky or brown color then we can say you have a cylinder head gasket problem otherwise you don`t need a gasket
make sure the water color is abnormal in that case only you will need gasket so don`t waste your time
some useful information about installing it reffer the link

Coolant is leaking into the car

Check the evaporator drain, its possible that are clogged (under carpet, under dash passenger side).

Good luck.

What cause engine overheating

Several problems can cause it. A thermostat that is stuck closed (will not allow coolant to circulate- remove and place in a pan of boiling water, it should open rather quickly). Engine cooling fan(s) not operating as temp rises (when temp gauge goes up past normal range, check to see if fan is running. If not, it could be a switch that controls the fan operation, or less possible, a bad fan motor). A radiator plugged up with rust and sediment won't allow proper circulation of coolant, resulting in overheating. If coolant has not been changed in a long time, or appears rusty, flush the system thoroughly. You may need to have the radiator professionally flushed if it's plugged up bad. Good luck!

My air conditioning in my Mitsubishi Galant (2005) is not real cold and the a/c light is blinking?

Your Freeon might be leaking or empty. You can buy replacement containers at any local auto shop, should this be the case. And remember, never try to refill a freeon container yourself.

Anti-freeze is leaking from the right side of my car towards the front right tire. It's not leaking from the radiator. I have to constantly refill the refill container that holds the extra anti-freeze.

Cheap fix first: inspect the line connecting the overflow jar to the radiator. Inspect the overflow jar for cracks. Does it leak while it's parked? Sight down to the puddle from under the hood, It should show you where it's coming from. That's a nine year old car. If it's hard to find you'll need a pressure test (any shop). Perhaps you need new hoses and clamps? Perhaps you're due for a flush and fresh coolant? How long has it been, how many miles? Coolant's a maintenance item. The worst case scenario would a leaking head gasket. It's a joint partway down the engine a few inches below the valve cover(s), Not as common, but it will only get worse. Coolant problems are best dealt with before summer arrives and you become stranded on the x-way.

My teperature gauge on my mitsubishi galant show's it is overheating 5 minutes after i start my motor

Is the car actually overheating? Are you adding coolant often or occasionally? Check your thermostat to see if it's working properly. If it's stuck closed, that's about how long it would take start to overheat. To check, remove thermostat, boil water in an old pot, drop thermostat in, it should open. If it doesn't, replace it.
