This solution will require a call to a tow bar sales facility as the year of the vehicle is fairly old so far as cars are concerned. You may find that there are other years that will fit you auto but you will have to have some help finding which one it is.
could very well be but it could also be any one of a number of things ,as its a 1988 its 23 yrs old so is it worth rebuilding the engine compared to buying another vehicle which may be a cheaper alternative
the bolt is rusted stuck on the bushing, you can try soaking it in penetrating oil for a few days, hitting it with hammer back and forth may work, it will destroy the bolt otherwise heat may work, i used to just torch them off and use new bolts
* Ford 5.0 windsor
* Ford 351 Windsor
* Chev 283, 304, 350
* Chev or Oldsmobile V8 diesel.
* Duramax V8 diesel.
Take your pick... Just about any engine between 275 and 400 cubic inches will be a good replacement.
The Corolla gearbox has a longer tailshaft than the Starlet and the gearstick is in a different place, you may be able to fit with a modified driveshaft and a new hole in the floor , the starlet 5 speeds were a little fragile and prone to doing bearings. I would recommend rebuilding the one you have as it will probably be less hassle and cheaper.
