Have you checked the relays? Fuses? Possibly a short in the wiring or clean all connections in any harnesses related to.. Have you had someone run the obd coses on this? sorry to hear it. its like having a child and never knowing when they are going to fall down.
Do you have the chiltons or haynes manual. Always a good investment

How to replace a powersterling pulley on 1999 dodge grand caravan

The procedure to remove the power steering pulley out of the 1999 dodge caravan engine is as follows:----

· First disconnect the black, negative cable from the battery.

· Then Take off the windshield wiper module.

· Raise the front of the vehicle using a jack.

· Then from underneath the vehicle remove the drive belt splash shield .

· Locate the power steering pump bracket and--working from underneath the car--loosen the through bolt; then remove the pressure hose routing bracket.

· Place a catch pan on the floor, underneath the power steering pump fluid reservoir, and siphon as much steering fluid from the tank; then remove the pressure and fluid supply hoses from the pump.

· Take off the rear pump mounting bolt and front mounting bolts through the pulley. Make sure to grab and keep the spacer located between the pump and mounting bracket once you remove the bolts.

· Take the pump and pulley assembly over the aluminum bracket and out of the engine.

Reinstall all parts and new pulley in reverse.

2001 dodge grand caravan no power steering assist I have replaced power steering pump and flushed system

The rack and pinion unit is probally bad. There are internal seals inside that hold the pressure, created by the pump, to turn the wheels, these seals maybe worn, or other internal parts are bad inside.

I have a 2003 dodge caravan and the power steering went out what must I do what will it cost to fix this problem, and how long can I drive the car like that R obert N Reese

The power steering pump could need to replaced, or it could be a just a matter of replacing seals and rebuilding the pump. Cost will vary according to what work must be done, and I recommend that you get at least two estimates before you commit to repairs. You can drive the van without power steering for as long as your arms can stand it.

2003 Dodge Grand Caravan Front Noise

I had the same problem, my mechanic has had this same problem with other 2003 grand caravans. Flush the power steering fluid, replace it with ATF+4 and add Lucas power steering additive. Apparently dodge has posted the fluid that was originally used is causing this problem. $100 and it is purring like a kitten

Power steering pump

The pump has to be removed from under the vehicle by removing the exhaust system from the flex bracket and moving it to as far left of the vehicle as possible..remember you have to remove the splash shield that protects the engine components first...then remove all associated bolts, hoses (plug them so they won't drip) and remove the pump from the vehicle..that it.
