Question about Chevrolet C1500

1 Answer

2004 Silverado 4.3 V6 Has miss on cylinders 2 and 4. Have done complete tune up Plugs Wires Cap Rotor,Fuel Filter. Still had Miss. Compression on all 6 within 8 lbs of each other. lowest reading 168 lbs. Fuel pressure 62 lbs and holds at 27 when key shut off. Replaced Coil, Ignition Module,Fuel injectors,Mass Air Flow Meter, Map Sensor, Throttle Position Sensor, and also a PCM Still have the miss. Only misses during cruising speeds. or in park at about 1000 rpm meaning barley crack the throttle and miss is present. Hard acceleration truck runs fine and at Idle runs fine just crack the throttle a bit and it misses

have you checked for a leaky intake manifold gasket? hold the rpms at 1000 and spray carb cleaner on the gasket at 2 and 4 to see if engine revs.

Check engine light on? Any codes? Missed before and after the cap was changed? Or is the cap new so you assume its good. I have had caps bad out of the box.

PO300 is all you get and you said fuel trims are good? Have you tried pinching the return fuel line and see if the fuel pressure increases? Does it have and EGR on it? Have you tried driving the truck with the egr unplugged?

I know you said you replaced the MAF but try running it with the MAF unplugged.

  • Martin Lanstra Jun 02, 2011

Have ran it without MAF still misses. The only thing that will make it run smooth is unplugging Throttle position Which I have pinned out and replaced sensor 4 different times.

Hey I had a 2003 s-10 4.3 that had a bad crank sensor do this. But it also flagged a code for the crank sensor.

On my 1993 nissan sentra would a bad fuel regulator make my 1.6 miss on the number 1and 2 cylinders miss

Doubtful, but possible if fuel pressure is WAY low. The regulator controls fuel pressure for all the cylinders. You most likely have a different problem.

I would check compression in cylinders 1 & 2, spark plugs, cap and rotor, ignition coil output (spark), firing order, plug wires, fuel pressure, injectors (to see if they are actuating and not plugged up) in that order.

1991 tracker with a 1.6. has a miss when running. when up to speed and holding at a steady speed miss gets worse. drove for about an hour and started cutting out very bad lost speed, power. converter red...

Do a compression test of the engine. See if your valves are seating properly is what you'd be looking for in checking for low compression. It could be causing the miss. When you changed plugs, did any one plug stand out as being different in color or texture at its base? The constant miss might put black sooty deposits on the spark plug. Course you'd have to remember which cylinder that plug came from to help you locate the miss. I'm assuming you have throttle body injection?

Engine got a skip

well do a tune up on engine if missing.replace spark plugs and wires.replace distributor cap and rotor.replace ignition coil.clean fuel injectors and replace fuel filter.if all fails. if engine has high mileage could have low compression due to worn cylinders burned valves. do a compression check see condition of engine.vacuum leaks and leaking egr valve cause engine miss.

Missing

engine missing could be caused by faulty spark plugs and wires, bad ignition coils, dirty fuel injectors, leaking egr valve, low cylinder compression, intake vacuum leaks.many things will cause engine to miss, first do minor fix, replace distributor cap and rotor, replace spark plugs and wires, clean fuel injectors, replace fuel filter and air filter,if this minor tune up dont help engine and engine still missing, do a vacuum test and compression test to check condition of engine.engine could be worn out have low compression by worn valves and pistons rings.

I have a 1996 nissan sunny fuel injected ... i have changed the plugs, injector rail, distributer, throttle body, and my engine is still misfiring can some one advise me please..

inspect the wiring for loose connections or bad wiring.

try adjusting first the distributor by turning it. It should adjust the timing. Other than that inspect the timing on the timing chain or the chain may have developed a slack.

Its like its missing,no power.maybe one cyl not working prop

MANY THINGS WILL CAUSE MISSING AND NO POWER LIKE FAULTY TPS SENSOR. SOUND LIKE STOPPED UP FUEL FILTER, CLOGGED FUEL INJECTORS, CLEAN FUEL INJECTORS IF YOU HAVE ELECTRONIC FUEL INJECTIONS.OMIT IF YOU HAVE 2 BARREL CARBURETOR. DO A LITTLE TUNE UP.REPLACE DISTRIBUTOR CAP AND ROTOR. REPLACE SPARK PLUGS AND WIRES. A BAD IGNITION COIL WILL CAUSE ENGINE TO MISS.DO A COMPRESSION TEST CHECK FOR WORN CYLINDERS WILL CAUSE ENGINE MISS.
